Fidelty Warranty and Mods..

Anyone have any luck with Fidelity warranty coverage and having mods on your car.. I'd imagine a tune would void any turbo warranty etc.

I'm shopping S7's still and debated buying one but didn't want to spend $2000 on a warranty and tune for no reason.

fidelity warranty was always offered when I shop for a used car at the dealership. I purchased it when I got my r8, and denied it when I got the s7

this may fall under insurance fraud but ill just leave it here....

Fidelity warranty (and most other aftermarket warranties) allows you to go to any shop of youre choice. most independant shops do not have the ability to scan ECU for what program it's running. therefore, an independent cannot relay to fidelity that the car is tuned.

If you have intake/exhaust/ downpipes, etc...that can be visually seen, that's a different story. they could deny a claim for that if they send an inspector.

Correct, I just found this out basically from other sources. Have to find a good indy however which can be tough up my way.

You can purchase a fidelity warranty from Audi to the person above who asked.

So I have been shopping for an extended warranty and asked the question about what would trigger an inspector going out since my car obviously modified and this was their response:

"What makes an Administrator want to send out an inspector is if they possibly think that the issue was pre-existing prior to contract purchase or if the shop/dealership is charging above average for a job. For example if your at the dealership and that dealership is asking for $400 for an alternator and 4 hours of labor to complete the job. The Administrator will say why are you charging me that much when down he street we can get the same part for $300 and that shop is saying they only need 3 hours of labor. (the Administrator uses a guide for standard labor rates in the area based off zip code). At that point either the Administrator will send out an inspector to confirm it takes that much labor and confirm the pricing for that part or they would want to tow your car to the other shop and have the work done there. So its technically its not a dollar amount that triggers it, its case by case. Feel free to ask more questions if any come up I'm here to help."

Made me leary of getting an extended warranty that could be denied down the road if they don't like the quote from the shop.

It seems like this always depends on the situation/shop/company/adjuster. On my previous car with mods (tune, exhaust, wheels, coilovers, etc) I had an aftermarket warranty and the adjuster that would get sent out would literally just look at the car, ask the tech what's wrong and approve the work. However, if an adjuster came out that would make note of all of the mods, they could have denied the warranty claims I made. I was also friends with my dealer, so they wouldn't mention the mods.
It's really a hit or miss, it just depends if you want to take the risk of potentially getting the claims denied.
Also, if they don't like the quote they can negotiate with the dealership on labor hours. On one of my claims they approved 3 hours less than the original labor estimate.

Absolutely correct. I got my A7 in late Dec with 74K miles on it and got an Autopom bumper to bumper extended warranty 5 year or 125K miles in early Jan. 2 weeks ago took it to dealership for 75K service and during Inspection they said bushings were bad. They sent out an inspector and he denied it although it's covered due to a pre existing condition. Then took it yesterday for timing/valve cover gasket and they approved it over phone but only paid $110 of $144 labor cost, and was going to send the dealership the parts as they said they can get OEM Parts cheaper
