I have an 07 with a 2.5" ebay test pipe and a non resonated Milltek sport exahust system. Down low in the rpms the exhaust is loud and a little droney (which I kind of like) but up top its quiets down like really quiet. I only have two rear mufflers and no cats and no resonaters. Is this a limitation of our cars and our turbos or do I just need to go full straight pipe? I also don't have a tune yet, does that help open up the exhaust note? I can't seem to find a video of a straight pipe B7 A4 that does an actual pull so I have no idea how loud it is in the full rpm range. I was considering chopping off my two rear mufflers and replacing them with two ebay N1 mufflers (yeah yeah I know) or just a regular straight pipe. What do you guys think?

I have milltek, it is a quiet system resonators or not.

Please dont straight pipe, it will sound terrible. Tunes do nothing for noise except maybe a bit more turbo noise just from it spinning faster.

Turbo cars are generally more muffled because...well the turbo is there. I would remove the exhaust and sell it, millteks arent cheap and are quality exhausts. You could sell it and have an exhaust shop build you something to your liking most likely for less then the sale price of the milltek system. And that way someone saves a quality nice exhaust and gets a deal while you get what you want with some extra change in your pocket.

^What he said. If you want your car to sound like a Civic, sell the exhaust so someone can enjoy the quality and engineering of a Milltek system. Maybe just sell your car and buy a Civic?

Future questions that can be answered ahead of time: no, a cold air intake will not improve performance; a BOV is not a good replacement for the OEM DV; a catch can setup is not as effective as the OEM PCV system; and the fit and finish of an ebay RS-style bumper is going to be poor.

I should join in the fun since you want to straight pipe a 4 banger [:D] But I won't. This is a very subjective topic fyi.

1. Like they said, don't straight pipe it.

2. Spend the money on a Stasis/Europaparts exhaust for the sound and volume you're probably looking for. Or blow all your money and go the JHM route with the S4 exhaust.

3. If money is an issue (just sell the Milltek tbh), find some clips of custom exhausts. Apparently (have yet to hear one in person) Borla and Magnaflow can sound great on these cars without breaking the bank.

Searching can do wonders!

That being said, if any current member is running or has run: Test Pipe to Stock Exhaust (resonated) to a pair Magnaflow 14851s, I would really like your input.

I know it was popular in the B6 group and some B7 guys ran it and have all said they love it... But I have yet to hear/see a good clip of it (as in the video, not the sound). So if you have any sound clips, opinions, or another setup you'd compare it to, I'd really like to know!

3” straight pipes!! with 2 resonators middle of car that are designed to remove rasp nothing else. Some may not call it straight but I got nothing to muffle the noises at all. I’ll see if I can find an Audi clip. I had started in garage a few days ago to see if it sounded ok on phone. But we all know how that goes

I have 3 inch turbo back with one vibrant resonator and one vibrant muffler.

I have drone though so i need to add a resonator.

If that doesnt help then im adding a 1/4 wave.

Actually just the other day I was sitting at a light and a b7 that must of been straight piped fired up leaving the gas station and drove away. I cringed and hunkered down in mine in embarrassment that I might be associated with the racket that thing made. Sounded like complete poo.

JHM Hi-flo cat (3") to JHM y-pipe (2.5") to B7 S4 Sebring Exhaust (2.5" all the way out). It's resonated and I like it that way. Non-resonated exhausts sound like crap. I could use some extra noise suppression inside for the rear passengers, but meh...

That’s the scene now bud. Straight pipe exhausts, crackle and pop, turkey call BOV’s.....No thanks.

I have a JHM testpipe to JHM y-pipe to OEM B6 S4 exhaust. The hangers fit in the stock mounting locations and the exhaust tips look stock. I got the testpipe and B6 exhaust used with a new y-pipe at a 15% discount totaling right around $1,000 all together.

It sounds fantastic! It's quieter than the stock exhaust I had because the flexpipe in the stock downpipe was broken. Its actually almost completely quiet when cruising at pretty much any speed and opens up to a nice tone with anything above 1/4 throttle.

The only negative is a small drone on engine braking/deceleration at 1400-1600rpm. This is something I think installing a high flow cat instead of a testpipe would fix.

I don't know how you can say the Milltek is quiet. IMHO it’s annoyingly loud above 3K RPM; Way louder than the Greddy SP and HKS HiPower I’ve had on my JP cars in the past. If I want pedestrians to hurry up over a crossing I just rev a little bit and they run - that’s the only good thing about really. And yeah, the Audi 2.0 is a pretty poor sounding engine to begin with...

Billy Boat aka APR turbo back including down pipe with APR test pipe.

It's pretty loud and aggressive. High performance with little backpressure. Drone at highway speed.

When at WOT it screams. Not like a x pipe but good enough.
