Jumped in my car (2015 Audi S4, 35k miles) today after driving it 10+ miles and it would not start. Just click click click like a dead battery. No warning lights or slow starts or anything. I jumped it and got it started - is it normal for the battery to just go with no warning? Is 4 years about right for the life of the OEM battery?
Go to Autozone or Pepboys...etc and get the battery tested...assuming you didnt leave anything on or hard wired an amp to the battery...etc.

That was my plan just was not expecting to need a new battery at this point. No aftermarket wiring or anything and did not leave anything on. The interesting thing is it fired right up after work today after sitting 10 hours and I drove it to the store 10 miles away. When I came out it was dead - just weird.

Do you keep the battery on tender when not being used for extended periods? Has it ever been allowed to drain charge? Do you garage the car at night? Lots of reasons why a battery might only last 4 years. I would expect them to last 6 or so years before needing to be replaced.

My original battery lasted about 6 years, longer than I had expected it to. I changed it out before I experienced any issues with starting or other electrical anomalies. The car has always been used for longer highway trips where there's plenty of time to get the battery fully charged, as compared to short trips in town, where it may not get fully charged.

It is my daily and is garaged at night - as such I would be surprised if it is the battery already but not much else it could be.

yes. I had this happen to me. You had a cell die on you. Mine was fine in the morning then when i went to move it in the evening it was the same thing. Come to find out it dropped a cell.

Mine lasted 4 years.
I'll be replacing it again before next winter season pro-actively.

The advanced auto autocraft battery I picked up recently had the VW/AG emblem embedded into it and the code on top for entering in for the battery management system.

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck ,feels like a duck its probably a duck! Get a new battery. BTW,no need to re-code the battery. Autozone and Advanced Auto have them at a really good price. 4-6 year life expectancy for an oem battery. You never know how long the battery was sitting around in the factory before it was installed

Mine did the same, threw no codes, no warnings.

Update - it was the battery. I figured it was I have just never had one go like that. I charged it overnight and it still would not start the car. Had it tested at Advanced auto - < 250 cranking amps.
