@Alfonso@GIAC have there been any changes or updates to the tune for the B8/B8.5 S4 tunes, especially to accomodate larger throttle bodies, ported blowers, etc?

From the tests we have done on multiple vehicles, there has not been a need to make any changes to our stage 2 plus software to accommodate the larger TB and ported blower. With both of those upgrades we are seeing about a 30-40 horsepower increase running the same stage 2 plus file with no changes to the file at all.

@Alfonso@GIAC, with regard to larger throttle bodies, does your stage 2+ tune shut off the CEL which is thrown by the ECM seeing more air than it expects for a given throttle plate angle?

Hi Alfonso,

I've enjoyed my GIAC tune for over 2 years now... but it is not playing nice with the larger TB. Would really like to get a revision.

I've been meaning to reach out to you or Andrew again. My shop is Parts Score in Scottsdale, AZ. I believe you guys have talked to them a few times about my car.

I am one of the ones who is getting codes on GIAC DP tune on Race Map with the Larger iABED TB.

Jason@PartsScore has swapped the larger TB and Stock TB back and forth about 3 times now.

On GIAC DP Race Map w/Sunoco 100 octane fuel:

When stock TB on the car...No codes at all.

When 75mm iABED TB on the car...Codes:

P2279 Leak in Air Intake System
P0068 Throttle Position Correlation

I'm happy to send you logs or scans or whatever...also I'm only 5hrs 45mins from you, or 1.5 hrs when I visit San Diego.

I'd like to try the TB Revision Beta File that was sent to Tampa Autosports to try.

Everybody is saying no need to try it or revise it...because they didn't see issue. I have a need to try it and so have others.

I'm am not the only one with GIAC that has had this issue...a few have already moved on to other tuners.

A lot of people were getting the two codes above...across multiple vendors...those vendors revised their files...and their customers were happy.

One of the cool things about the GIAC tune is it's ability to adjust/adapt on the fly (But it has not worked out that way for every giac tuned car w/larger TB)

I have not wanted to just move on to another tuner because I like a quality tune that's safe and to this point proven. I also love the ability to switch from pump to race file w/o having to re-flash.

But, How will I know when I really have a 'Leak in the Air Intake System' or 'Throttle Body Correlation' issue if it is always throwing those codes?

Or if i'm really getting the most out of the 75mm TB if the tune is not calibrated for it?

Oh, and there's a little bit of idle hunting when in park...probably due to the codes above or some other reason tune not playing nice with TB. When stock TB on...no idle hunting.

A quote from another tuner, that revised their file when everybody was getting the P2279 & P0068 codes with the Larger TB.

It requires file calibration to get rid of p2279... once thats cleared up the p0068 goes a way as well.

So anyway I'd like to hear back from you and coordinate with my shop to get a revision file to test.

Thanks,
Bill

@Jackal, Were you one of the guys I talked to that was having issues but switched to another tune? Can't remember... i have it in my notes somewhere.

No, I'm afraid not. I'm not a current GIAC customer, just curious about the tunes.

And this is why I won’t be going with GIAC.

Actually Alfonso reached out to me today, responded to my email.

Waiting to hear from Andrew or their software engineers if they can get a revision out or a beta file for me to test.

He said Tampa was still testing which is a little confusing because when I talked to Evan and DBFL, they said they didn't even try the file.

They saw no need to...that's why I think I will have to start a thread on the issue so I can keep track of who it's working for and who it's not working for and those that simply moved on because of no action or the perception of such from GIAC

I have responded to your emails Bill.
Responding to a sales thread about a larger TB doesn't seem fit for this thread so if you can just reach out via email that would be great.

Just to update everyone following this thread as well, a revised file is being made and should be completed before the end of today to eliminate the codes the iAbed TB is throwing on these engines.

And this is why I won’t be going with GIAC.

That is unfortunate to hear, if you have any questions or concerns at all. Just let me know.

Best regards,

Alfonso M.

@ Alfonso, thanks for your emails and forwarding to Andrew.

Andrew called me yesterday and we chatted for 30 minutes or so, he was revising the file for the two codes with the larger TB mentioned above.

He said he would be emailing it to my shop yesterday eve. My shop is short staffed right now, so haven't been able to verify if they received it yet.

I'll get flashed as soon as they can fit me in. I will probably get the flash at home tool in the future especially if their will be updates or E files in the works.

It's just having the two files pump and race already loaded and just using the clicker to switch between them is very beneficial to me now.
