Hi guys,
Yesterday I have enabled Drive Select and few other options on my 2010 S4.
It did not had it as standard in the menu.
I have used Carista app and the green hidden menu to activate it.
When I switch the settings for engine or steering from dynamic, comfort or auto I can't really feel any difference.
What's your experience.
Thanks

Because you can’t just enable drive select from Carista and think it will work.
First off, a car without ADS does not have the variable steering column, so maybe only the steering assist for the Servotronic is being increased and decreased. Also, you don't have electric variable rate struts/shocks that change their dampening rate like on the actual ADS option. What these leaves is only the driving program for engine and transmission and maybe on S4s, a change in the Sport diff. So in reality, your just doing the same thing as switching from "D" to "S" mode on the shifter.

I did not enabled the suspension setting as I am on standard one, so know it wouldn't do anything.
The engine setting not even change the way it shifts like it does in S mode.
Just thinking whats the point of having this option to enable all of this if it doesn't do anything?

You can perform a simple test to see if the driving select works. Put in ‘D’ confort mode, drive in the highway, keep the gas pedal steady, maintain 2000rpm, then select Dynamic, your RPM should jump to 3000rpm.

I have ADS lite (no suspension). Def feel a difference when changing. But really, I don’t think this would be an option you can just enable with VCDS.
Just like navigation, I can’t just turn it on if it didn’t come with the car.

You can't switch between modes while in motion.
How would ADS change the gearing in the transmission? There is no way going the same speed you're going to go from 2k RPM to 3k RPM unless you're simply in a lower gear.
What the Carista ADS mod DOES give you is minor but it's there:
Throttle response/sensitivity
steering sensitivity (This is on an 8.5, if you're talking about 8.0, not sure).

I have a B8.5, I didn’t activate ADS via Carista or Vagcom, the car came with ADS. I can definitely switch mode by pressing ADS bottom while I am driving, matter a fact, I do it all the time. I normally drive in dynamic manual mode, when I hope on the highway knowing I’ll drive some long distance, I swith to D and then switch it to comfort mode in the hope of saving couple drops of fuel. The ADS between dynamic and comfort affects the ratio of the accelerator. If you keep you pedal on the same position and switch to comfort mode, your rpm will drop 1k and yes the car speed will decrease by maintaining the pedal same position.
As your question for the transmission, if I am on comfort mode on D and switch ADS to Dynamic the tranny will switch automatically to S and vice versa. if in manual mode switch ADS mode won’t affect tranny.
