Went to start my car today and got a low battery error message. Just curious, does this mean I need a new battery or just charged?

I don't drive my car very much and I've been getting the sense all winter that at start up, it seemed a little weak.

I have 3 months left on my new car warranty. The dealer says that they'd need to run diagnostics and if they do my car will mostlikely be flagged for TD1.

What do you guys think? Should I just hook up a trickle charger for when the car sits? Or should I bring it to the dealer and have then diagnose? If they find the battery does need to be replaced, will my warranty claim be voided because of the tune?

Looks like you are heavily modified to say the least, so do you really care about a warranty, that is going to be up in 3 months anyway? So just go in and take a shot. All that aside, if it is just a bad battery, you could buy and install one yourself for $ 200. Sounds like you may not have driven the car enough lately to fully charge the battery. Seems like a '15 battery shouldn't be dead yet under normal circumstances.

Batteries on these cars tend to last about 3-5 years. I would hook up a charger and drive it. But make sure that you have a good charge or hook up a running car with jumper cables before flashing back to stock if you are going to the dealer. A normal battery on a car that gets driven every day is just fine to flash without anything else. But a car that is not driven often and has a low battery light it would not be good to just flash it without at least a running car hooked up with jumper cable.

Ctech 7002 works great. Use it to recharge Also if your car sits for a few days without driving it then leave the Cteck connected All connections + - can be done under the hood

Ge a new one at Autozone or Advanced Auto. Shouldnt cost you more than $150. Dealer will charge you at least twice that much. Battery warranty is prorated and you will still pay more at dealer than buying one yourself. Some will tell you to re-code the battery. I never did and had no issues

Thanks everyone for your input. I don't get to drive it much and with the birth of my 3rd child recently it will get even harder. I will try to get some seat time in this weekend and hook up a charger to it when it sits in the garage. I don't think the battery is dead but definitely needs charging.

Anyone know of a good trickle charger for a LiFePO4 battery?

Agree here. Go to advance and put the battery in you cart but don’t buy it. Within a few minutes (tops) you’ll get a 25% off code. Use it and pick up in store. Might need speed perks and you can double up on coupons.

It will also have the PEM or BEM code so you can update. I did it but I can be anal about that stuff.
