View Full Version : wing mirror pant vs ebay cover?

hi guys, am getting my window trim wrapped as i dont like that chrome look, and i got a quote for the mirrors, the shops said theyll have to paint them and itl be £80 but just seen some covers in gloss black 25 quid of ebay, is it worth saving the money for the covers or will they be poor quailty ?

By "paint them"...are you legitimately referring to paint? Or have them wrapped, like you intend to do the window trim? I'd just go for a clean, blacked-out housing for your side-view mirrors/invest in some nice ones to replace your OEM ones.
If they're able to wrap the mirrors in the same material they're using to wrap your window trim, that's also an option - but it's ultimately up to you! [up] Good luck.

yeh they said they cant wrap them they will have to spray paint them.

cheap but concerned about quality, sometimes you can get away with cheap but sometimes its buy cheap buy twice lol

Questions:
1. Why can't you paint them yourself, with like plastidip or something similar?
2. Did they mention why they can't wrap the mirrors? Or won't? Most places wrap them as part of the car. Now if they can't, or don't have the experience to do it, perhaps you can look elsewhere. Just suggestion

The guy who wrapped my trim said no way to wrapping the mirrors, there is an indent that runs along the top of the mirrors that would make it look like shit/ bubble he said. Do those mirror covers just snap over the original or is it a cover swap like I see with the carbon fiber ones? I'd be interested in them if they just snap over, replacing the original caps looks like a pain in the ass.

they just snap over the current ones takes 2 mins
the ebay selller puts his listings as private but ive had a look at some of the neutral commentss, maybe not referer to th mirrors but people mentio cheap and tacky fell offf, and paint chipping easily etc

Sounds to me like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, OP. [>_<]
Either you go the "cheaper route" with the 25 quid snap-over eBay covers that have lack-luster reviews...or pay a little more for the paint job that the shop is recommending for the side-view mirrors. Make the call! [up]

I have a set of carbon fiber mirrors coming from eBay. They take an OEM mirror and skin it in carbon fiber. I'll report back on the quality when I get them, but the store had really positive feedback and I know there won't be fitment issues as they use the OEM mirror. $150

I saw that but appears to leave some of oem mirror exposed

Shouldn't do. The aluminum caps come off and are replaced by the CF ones. It isn't something that is stuck with adhesive onto the existing ones. Same theory as ECS's.
