I'm still torn as to whether i keep my S4 6MT B8.5 car and modify it once warranty is up....or trade it in on a low mileage '14 Audi RS5 V8.
Looking for opinions/thoughts from you all.....

For that kind of money i'd rather pick up a used rs3 or even rs7 for a little more. the v8 rs5 just seem too tame for me.

Cosmetically alone, the A5/S5/RS5 are incredible. I love the way their DRLs look, with their manacing and aggressive nature and all. [:)] Performance wise, it's a no brainer...and the sound of that V8? WOOF. [drool] With a nice custom exhaust, it's beyond awesome.
The only downside I see for you going with the RS5 is that you lose the beloved 6MT - as manuals are a dying artform these days. [down]

I think it really comes down to aesthetics vs performance. If you want the better looking car RS5 all the way but if you want the faster car keep the s4.
They’re both great grand touring vehicles but the s4 with a few grand into will leave the rs in its dust without giving up that reliability you’ve grown accustom too.

As much as I love the RS7...that puppy has 79,347 KM's/49,300 miles. The OP's in Canada, and the RS5 he's interested in is a 23,890 KM/38,450 mile vehicle.
As dope as that RS7 would be, I'd go with the the RS5...as - in reality - that RS7 is almost $63,000.00 ($46,980 American dollars).

and the RS7 maintenance costs can break the bank if something goes wrong.
The V8TT has not seemed to be as bullet proof as most owners would like them to be.
The 4.2L in the RS5 on the other hand has been quite reliable

If you want a slower car with worse mpg, sure. I would never go that route, ever.

If you do get rid of your 6MT I hope you won't miss it.

Its a tough one...i definitely am first and foremost a car enthusiast and love vehicles with manual transmissions.
I want awd as we have 6 months of crap weather (ice, snow, rain, etc)
I want 4-5 seats (family)
Love the sound of V8\s
Want tun-ability in a car if able.
I drove;
2014 RST: absolute monster and sounded amazing. Auto trans shifted well and it was a smiles per mile winner for sure. Downside is cost and future maintenance...and it's a tad long in size.
2012 Porsche 911S 2wd auto: loved the sound (mechanical - pre turbo model), feel, performance. Downside is cost, almost zero rear space room, rwd and truthfully i felt a bit disconnected from the car without the manual.
2017 Porsche C4S: awd, performance looks. Downside is i can't afford due to price and was an auto.
14 RS5 (2 years ago): loved the sound and the 8250rpm limiter. Downside: gearing felt a tad long and it didn't "feel" as fast as i assumed it should.
18 Audi RS3 and TTRS: fast, fun. After driving for an hour, much like the Porsche's...the downside was the auto trans felt a bit disengaging.
**I appreciate your feedback all. I was driving home this morning and turned off my traction control at a set of lights on the freeway. A truck pulled up next to me and i assumed wanted in front of my car. Light went green and i remember at the top of 2nd gear the truck was rear view mirror material. It is fun to slip through the gears with a manual trans car (i've got 2 others in my garage). I think the more i read above, the more i would probably miss having the manual trans. I'll definitely do more thinking....

If all you care about is 0-60 times and 1/4 times, then stick with your S4. That being said, driving an RS car has its own intangible value, if that matters to you. The S4's v6 will never sound as good as the RS5's v8. And finally, the RS5 looks a hell of a lotter sportier than an S4. Weigh those factors, take the RS5 for a test drive, and see what you think.

I would stick with the S4. With a Stage 1 tune, it will be quicker than that RS5 and with a Stage 2 tune as quick as a new RS5. Combine that with an AWE exhaust and your car will sound great, maybe not quite as good as the RS5 V8 but good, nonetheless.

23k km => 14.3k miles - it's super low miles.
$50k CAD => 37k USD - that's a fair price
I'm not sure you will really feel like you've "upgraded" moving from the S4 to RS5. From behind the wheel it will all look the same.
There are also more exciting coupes out there too. For that $ could you get into perhaps a Cayman? I'd just keep what you have and mod it...

Apologies; the RS5 in question would be in the 14K/15K mile range when converted from KM's - not the 38,450 miles I had originally posted. [:)] Thanks for that, MrFunk! [up]

In my opinion there are only three cars in Audi's lineup that are significantly better than the S4 at current, the RS3, TTRS, and the RS7. Any Audi besides those that's not a brand new off the lot RS car is a lateral move or a downgrade.

If you get the RS5, a Stage 1 tuned B8.5 S4 will be fstr n u.

Your wife's curiosity fades after the thought of you looking at p0rn? Mine quickly realizes I'm rowdy enough to look at such material, so we get freaky shortly after. She finds it lusty and appreciates my "drive"! Perhaps I'm one of the lucky few?

Does the RS5 have the same OEM "Flower" wheels from the 2015 - 2016 Black optics package S4?

I was only able to come across those "flower" OEM wheels as an option (from factory) for the S3, S4, and TT variants. No sign of any other model. [down]

Sound of the V8 and looks are great, on the RS5- but it is so slow. Have you considered a TTRS?

Those that know, know. Those that don’t, don’t. Wouldn’t ever get rid of mine. Truly a special car. Last of its kind.
