This is more of a curiosity then anything else. I have noticed that my A6 is not providing me with any traffic updates period. The car is still connected to the 3G server (the car displays the 3G level of connection in the bottom right of the screen and has a sim card in it) (although I am not subscribed to Audi Connect), but I do not get any traffic information. When I start a route through the navigation it has a check next to the live traffic updates (therefore indicating that it should work), but I have no colored lines next to the roads (which would indicate the traffic conditions). The settings are set up with traffic updates enabled. I know that I am not subscribed to Audi Connect, but as far as I know the traffic information is not Audi connect dependent. My parents had a 2016 A7 and A5, both of which continued to give traffic information long after their 6 month Audi Connect free trials expired (my parents did not subscribe to Audi Connect). Up until both car's leases ended (39 and 36 months respectively) both cars provided traffic updates and information. The A5 was running on the same MMI roughly as my A6 since the update for the A5's came in 2013. Therefore shouldn't my A6 also be receiving updates. Im going to bring this up with my dealer when the car goes in for routine service in a few weeks, but I wanted to gather some of your thoughts.

Unless things have changed, traffic updates are provided via Sirius XM. You can purchase a “traffic only” package for $60/yr, but you’ll have to call up to get it and listen to them repeatedly try to sell you a radio plan as well.

I do have sirius radio already. IDK if I have the traffic in my package, but if thats all it takes to get it back thats simple enough.

If you have a radio plan, then traffic is included. You wouldn’t need anything “extra”. May be worth checking with Sirius, though. Explain the issue, they can send a network ping/update to the unit to refresh it.

That would lead me to think that the issue is with Audi not Sirius (since my radio is having no issues), but its worth a call to Sirius just to trouble shoot. If that doesn't work then I'll bring it up when my service rolls around. Hopefully this is it though.

I experienced a similar problem about a year ago. It was a SiriusXM issue with me. I calle them and they “pinged” me and it came back.

I will definitely give them a call! Thanks so much.

UPDATE: I called Sirius. It turns out that my subscription had run out, which is why I was no longer getting updates. For some reason Sirius no longer includes Traffic and other updates in their radio packages (according to the person I spoke with). So although my radio subscription is up to date, my traffic one is not. So if your having an issue with your traffic information, give Sirius a call. Thanks everyone for the help!

I don’t have subscription to Sirius, but what’s interesting is that I do get traffic update randomly, and I mean randomly.
Sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn’t as if it has its own brain.
But since I did not subscribe to Sirius, I will just take it whenever it shows up.

The exact same thing happens with me as well. I've never subscribed to SiriusXM but had the trial. It pops up every now and then and then disappears after a day or so. I'm guessing they're just trying to tempt you into subscribing but there's no point. Google Maps is a thousand times better.

So the traffic stand alone package is $60/year? I drive through the Chicago area every day back and forth to work and got hooked on the traffic when I had the free trial. I miss it even though I can just look at my phone. But I try not to screw with the phone while driving other than using the Bluetooth interface for talking.

I could care less about the music aspect of XM Serious as I can just listen to my own music off the memory card.

Yep, before I got my 2018 with CarPlay, I was paying $60/yr for traffic only in my 2012.

I was wondering this myself. Glad you posted about it. I’ve tried all different setting thinking I was going crazy. Lol. Guess I’ll have to go back to using Waze.

I called Sirius, and they got it working. $20 per year. If you have updated maps I think its well worth it, but if your maps are really out of date you may be better off investing that $20 in a phone mount.
