Hi, my 2015 rs7 just gave me the brake pad warning at 34k miles. This was expected, but I'm wondering where in the bay area people go to have service work done, best would be east bay area.

My dealer has quoted me 'just under' $1k for front pads, $3100 for front pads and rotors. I know it's expensive on this car but want to explore what other options I might have.

Thanks

You might try reaching out to Precision Motorworks, https://precision-motorworks.com/ they are in Santa Clara but it could be worth the drive.

Griffin Motorwerke is also in the east bay. In Berkeley if you're near that area.

Probably as expensive as the dealer [emoji23] , Dubclinic in Santa Clara has by best far the best competitive prices and best service . Check them out

If you’re looking in the East Bay, try giving Contra Costa Auto Service in Concord a call. Ask for Adrian or Keith.

Dubclinic in Santa Clara. Bernard is a pro at Audi and VW. He's my go to guy for any repairs.

I had a similar set of work. I called and emailed multiple times to get a response. They argued with me about the size (they misunderstood sizing on my B8.5) and then when I said I could just bring in all the parts they told me they absolutely wouldn't touch customer supplied parts.

I ended up going to Sprint Auto Works in San Jose area. Long delay to get the work done, but they did on the day they promised using my parts and I was 100% good to go...

I prefer JHM over in Lathrop, CA. They're a bit far from the SF Bay but they know Audi engines since that's all they work on and their prices are better than the rest with more accurate estimates.

boo, their owner openly lobbies for gun confiscation. to each their own I suppose but when they make their politics known, I'll choose to not shop there if their politics conflict with my beliefs.

Sprint is out of business now.

Sprint is out of business now.Sprint is still in business, got my ported blower installed on my b8.5 s4 there recently. It's just James and his business partner now I forget he's name so it takes a little time to get anything done but their work is top notch.

They also have DIY or DIE to do work yourself at $35 an hour

Well James said they're out of business when he was running away from angry customers on facebook and yelp (his reasoning as to why bad reviews shouldn't follow him to DiY) so I'm going to assume Sprint/Becausebags aren't licensed and insured entities anymore.

Exhibit A: https://www.yelp.com/biz/diy-or-die-techshop-san-jose?hrid=A0gbBmHuBx5ND2zdwm9b4Q
Customer complains about their experiences dealing with Sprint during the transition to DIY and DiY claims complete ignorance like they have no idea who the customer is... essentially insulting everyone's intelligence and hoping to prey on ignorance of new customers.

There's more than a handful of good friends of mine who refuse to deal with them anymore after things like... taking money and never ordering parts.. taking parts and using them in other projects only to have to re-order and delay to replace the parts.. taking 4 times as long to complete projects.. keeping the garage closed to avoid customers who called ahead to obtain said parts. These are the business practices that kill enthusiasm and rob the experience of enthusiasts.

I've been around the audi community in the bay area for a long time now so forgive my saltiness. It's just never surprising to hear of another bad experience so I just feel an obligation to steer people away now.

Thank you for explaining, I had no idea. I used them a few years back and this last December. I have to say nothing ever went smoothly but the work was always done well. But damn thats terrible.

No worries mate. Knowledge is power, if nothing more than to maintain expectations. I used them before for tuning when they had a custom tuner before they started selling APR.

Sad story there, Daz died of pneumonia and James never finished paying him and seems to think he doesn't need to pay him/his family anymore. Still owes a bit to the middle man custom tuning installer JT as well but JT has written it off and left the state.

I've had good luck at 034 and Griffin. JHM is too much of a drive for me, so no experience with them.

I ended up going to 034. Pretty good experience, would use them again if I can't find someone closer. This was an easy one, I made an appt. and waited while they installed the pads front and rear.

You sound like a snowflake. Who cares. good work is good work. There's plenty of shops that do great work for a better price and don't lobby politicians to support a one sided agenda. There's no shortage in the area.

I already know it's an agenda you support so there's a reason you see it that way.

You know I’m a gun owner right? Lol you don’t really know what “agenda I support” you’re still being a snowflake.

You know I’m a gun owner right? Lol you don’t really know what “agenda I support” you’re still being a snowflake. You're the one who is so hurt by my opinion that you came here to call me names and yet I'm the snowflake?.. Lol, there's a thread for this type of discussion and I know you've been part of it so if you want to continue, take the journey to the appropriate thread for political discussions.

I refuse to support companies who openly fund a political agenda that I don't support. Just like they have that right, so do I. Don't like it? Too bad, so sad. Have a nice day.
