Hi,
I bought my wife a new ‘14 S7 when we had our first kiddo, and the little one has max’d out in weight for our rear facing car seat and now must switch to forward facing. We purchased the Diono Radian 3 RXT and I have spent the better part of a few hours trying to get that sucker to install correctly with no success. The angle of the car seat vs the angle of the actual seat just doesn’t want to mesh appropriately to get a snug fit. Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue, and if so, what car seat worked out for you?

What I have done: removed head rest to allow the tether to attach easier and more securely; tried to place a folded towel underneath the car seat to fill the gap between the seat and car seat. I have been able to get the seat secure enough in front-back movement (<1 inch per manufacturer), but side to side movement is 4+ inches.

Thanks!
-Todd

Britax marathon worked for my 3 kids...very good quality and easy to install properly.

Honda odyssey
B5 A4 avant
B5 passat wagon
B7 S4 avant

We also used the Roundabout but that is a convertible one and I don't think is as high of a weight rating as the marathon.

Covers have cool patterns and are easy to remove and wash for the eventual up Chuck spill or accident.

Highly recommend Britax.

I'm also using a Britax Marathon. Its a convertible car seat that worked well in forward and reverse setups. I do use a folded towel on the rear of it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190104/532cbbc59e0df987ff92c3a0feaa9efb.jpg

I have the recaro and just raised the head rest and lowered it back down.

This.

I also used the recaro performance with both my boys. I use them occasionally in my S6 but my wife permanantly has them in her Q7 while driving the kids around.

A bit bulky in the S6 but they work fine for me. I put a seat protector under them in each car

Thanks for the replies, everyone. That gives me somewhere to start. @Bwilkins750 and @09audi, do you know if the rear seats in the S6/S4 of same shape as the S7?

I had the Diono in both my 2012 S4 and in my current 2014 A7 and there are no issues with fitment, it's extremely snug.

You've done the right thing by removing the headrest as that's the biggest mistake people make when putting these in and not getting a snug fit.

The other issue is ensuring you routed the bottom belt correctly and you are able to pull it up snug, the seats are almost as side as the distance between the anchors, which is the problem i had when trying to tighten it up, if you follow the instruction and run the belt back through the seat when you are tightening it with your knee down you should be able to get it in there very snug.
