View Full Version : Rs5 in Sacramento

Been looking at rs5s for quite awhile and just recently, one popped up at a dealership out in Sacramento that caught my eye. Higher mileage but the price seems fair, itís over at Luxury Motorcars and just curious if it belonged to anyone here or if anyone knows the previous owner? The salesman Iíve been talking to has been great so far but I still wouldnít mind hearing about the car from whoever owned it! Ibis white and sitting on HREís Iím hoping it was owned and taken care of by an enthusiast!

Definitely owned by an enthusiast as HRE's are super expensive, the blue brake calipers are custom and it looks like the headlights are E-codes - those 3 items alone when new had to cost close to $8k - surprised it was traded in without being parted out first and returned to stock...

I agree and figured as much once I saw the Ecodes, but just hoping I can hear from the previous owner as Iím planning on flying out and driving the car back. Roughly a 2100 mile drive home so Iím hoping she was taken care of!

If you get it you should meet up with me and Joshua_rs5 this summer.

The only concern should be the fact that it has a sticker of a race track (perhaps Laguna Seca raceway?) on the window so it may have been a heavily tracked car if the owner is TOO much of an enthusiast :)

I literally saw the same sticker on the back of a Prius two days ago...I wouldn't sweat the sticker. Lots of posers out there. Just have the car looked over and get some sort of an inspection done by an Audi specialist. The blue calipers/ibis white is vaguely familiar (I saw a post somewhere debating caliper color).

Are there maintenance records?

I did the same, flew out to a car I'd only seen photos of after chasing it across two states. The specs, mileage, and mods were just right and I've been a happy camper ever since. Good luck!

Call them and check the VIN. I'm sure they have the full service history too.

Thatís extremely close, the wheels are different currently but the caliper choice in color seems too exact to be coincidence. I may have to just give it a shot to call and ask, good find Ape!

Usually means owner takes care of the cat more than just someone who uses it as a weekend cruiser. I say look for a good independent shop by them and see if you can have a ppi done. Check the tires and all fluids/ suspension parts etc. Car may have installed intake and exhaust too.

I just looked at the Carfax on this one and it's been wrecked not once but twice. Run. Run far away.

I saw that too but after finally getting ahold of the previous owners thanks to a member who pmíd me, the carfax makes it sound much worse than it really was and Iím honestly at peace with what the report says along with the fact itís still a clean title. Iím still having a PPI done so weíll see if there any major issues that are going to ruin the car for me down the road but so far Iím not seeing a reason run. What can I say, Iím an optimist.

Nothing wrong with optimism! Amazed you were able to talk to the two previous owners but good that you know exactly what you're getting into. Due diligence will pay off in the long run. Just be prepared to walk away though. There are others out there.

You might be fine with it but good luck when you go to re-sell it - at that point the stories about the prior damage will be 2nd-hand "stories" and the re-sale values will be reduced by a large margin - I'm not saying run away from it but I am saying get a HUGE discount. And I assume it doesnt come with OEM parts to convert it back into stock either, meaning it's always going to be a "previously wrecked, tuner special" - ideal if you're looking for a cheap version to thrash at the track or modify a ton (supercharge when a kit comes out?) but even at that, these RS models are VERY expensive to maintain/repair and therefore don't make great thrashers. Probably better to find a clean example that doesn't have resale value issues...

^ This!

and OP, there was a suzuka '13 in Sac posted last week with 39k on the odo I think for $43 + a New Year sale price... and had all the bells on it. Post was removed 5 days later but its still lurking on Autotrader for some reason.

I've seen the RS you're looking at at Luxury and it is a beauty though! But history of a car becomes more sus as it goes from owner to owner..keep looking

I agree on the resale aspect 100%.

What's interesting to me, is the RS5's seem to be depreciating at a faster rate than the RS4's (maybe due to the manual transmission). Most of the RS4's I've seen in my area have hit a 'floor' of around 32-35k CAD depending on mileage and I've seen some 2013-2015 RS5's for around 42,000 (likely had some body damage repaired) . Maybe it's because there are more of these on the road? Last summer, the market was flooded in my area (Canucks love their AWD supercars) but right now, I only see one for sale (would be tough to sell this car in the winter). If I were to sell my car right now (2015 with 30,000 miles) I bet I'd only get 43 - 47,000 CAD. I guess it really depends how many there are for sale when you go to sell it.

This is the whole stick vs auto thing with sticks holding more value. Both will do well though because theyíre the last big NA audi will use in this class of car. I think the RS5 hasnt hit the bottom yet, but will age really well do to its kind of timeless look....and the quality being better than that of the B7, itíll do a bit better long term is my guess. The B7 interior really doesnt do well with a lot of miles.
