I bought my wife a 2018 Q5 fully loaded with Quattro and she loves it. I live in Houston with bumper-to-bumper traffic: no ice, no snow, but just some serious heat. However, look at these sweet deals from Audi Central Houston (https://www.audicentralhouston.com)
I know to get the Quattro, but the sales guy wants to offer me $15,000 off for a brand new 2018 A6, but its an FWD.[confused]
Man... This is tempting for a commuting vehicle in the traffic to save gas. ...but FWD??? Anybody on the forum every had a FWD and think about resale value as well?
If you live in a place like Houston, would you buy this deal?

My opinion: I dive an S7 - my mother owns a 2018 A4 FWD. Maybe it’s my driving style I love the Quattro drive in rain and dry weather, It builds my confidence to feel the grip of all tires vs the front tire spin. Make or break for me at this point.

Exactly!
Sometimes we make mistakes because of these sweet deals. My wife Quattro is nice.

You can probably get $20k off. I’ve seen that at dealers around my area for 2018 A6

Is it Quattro? The best deals are FWD. To some people, Quattro is a must even in the dry desert. However, $20k off the MSRP for a FWD is very tempting. $20,000 is a lot of cheese. [:D]

Stick with Quattro. It simply makes the car much better

$20K is A LOT money. Most of the time I’d say get whatever is better or whatever you want but that’s a huge chunk of change that you can probably invest.

Before buying the Audi I was driving a Subaru Outback which just happened to be my first AWD vehicle as well. Now, being in Dallas we have similar weather sans your rediculous humidity thank goodness. What many people overlook is how surefooted an AWD is in the rain. The first time I was caught in a downpour it was immediately obvious. Even my wife who is usually oblivious to anything the car is telling her (warning lights, clanking/ screeching noises) noticed that fact the first time she drove in the rain. I know Houston very seldom gets snow but there is the added benefit of AWD in that rare event especially since you will not have the correct snow tires. If gas is not really an issue for you go for the Quattro.

That's what I'm talking about!
My nephew is in college and he needs a car right now. $20,000 can get him a Honda or a Camry; it can be more money in stocks. At least you have the Audi badge. ...but FWD??? I don't know about the FWD thing because when you think Audi, you think Quattro. Man... I don't feel right to pass-up $20k, but people will not buy even if it's $20 grand less. [:D]
Remember, this is not fake news. Audi is trying to get rid of these things. Oh well... I think the sales end January 2.

A6 is a big car for FWD, not sure how that drives, you should probably go for a test run.. If you are only keeping the car for a short period or just a few years, it makes sense to go with the $20k savings since you should be able to sell the vehicle at a lower price than market value since all the other sellers didn't get the big discount you got..

I just bought my A6 with this deal.
I ended up getting about $17.5K in the deal based on what they gave me for my trade. I shopped it everywhere and got $2.5K more on my trade plus the $15k deal. I was happy with the deal.
My car is FWD, and I have no regrets. I'm in Houston, and on dry pavement I couldn't tell a huge difference to justify the ~$4K difference.
Getting a new A6 for about $36K was just too good to pass up.

I live in Houston and the only problem that we have is the heat and serious bumper-to-bumper traffic all day. We have the 2018 Q5 Quattro with no deal.[mad] I test drove the A6 FWD and for some reason, it has quicker acceleration than the Q5 Quattro. Maybe the A6 is lighter, but I cannot tell a huge difference to pass-up $15-20k savings. The A6 FWD puts my RWD V6 Lexus GS-350 to shame in every way.

You should be able to get the same deal on awd or similar. I wouldn’t buy an Audi without awd.
Audi central is notorious for deep discounts. Show up today and tell him you are walking out with a car today. End of year and all.

It's not just central. West has it too. Audi USA is giving them money to move A6's because of the stop-sell they all had earlier in the year, so they're sitting on a lot of A6's from 2018.
I could have gotten the same deal on a Quattro P Plus, but again, to me, the $5k difference wasn't worth it for Quattro. I get why others would, but for my needs today... not so much. This car is purely a comfortable commuter and I have a 15 year old turning 16 soon, so another car is on the way... I need that $5K! :)

We already have a 2018 Q5 Quattro. I need a gas saving commuter vehicle to replace my GS-350 for bad traffic and I will be driving to San Antonio a lot.

Makes sense. I'm going to Austin a lot and had same consideration.
