View Full Version : How do I remove this mirror trim piece

How do I remove the base piece (the most bottom black piece)? I used a trim tool to separate the middle and lower piece and broke a tab on the middle piece. I can’t seem to loosen the lower piece. Any advice?

That's part of the actual mirror assembly. To remove the assembly:
1) Squeeze the two sides of the bigger flat cover further back and pull it off.
2) Unplug the cable there.
3) Grab that piece you are pointing at and twist it; the mirror assembly will come off the windshield.

In regards to #1 above, are you referring to the big flat piece that is directly above the mirror?
I don’t want to remove the whole mirror. I want to buy a dash cam and it asks for a picture of the inside view of the black piece with arrows to it to see the clips on the inside so that the proper part can be sent. It doesn’t come off by itself? I’ve searched bunch of YouTube videos and can’t find one to show how it’s removed.

The so-so instruction on Aliexpress also mentions taking the cover above first, then the one with red arrows. Looks like there is a sequence to this.

I found this out the hard way but the cover piece pops right off and the whole mirror twists right off...I went fishing one weekend and came home to my wife making a sorry face and my mirror dangling from the windshield lol

Did you figure out how it pops off by itself? Without removing the mirror?

It just pops off when you pull I believe maybe squeeze it a little...I saw a video on youtube too on how to take it off and put it on
