I recently purchased an Owl Car Cam and have nothing but praise for it. Live view outside and in, create instant video clips, easy install and uses the ODB-II port for power.

Pics of the owl cam can be found here: https://www.owlcam.com
It connects to the ODB-II port so it knows when the car is running and when it's off. Also knows when the battery gets low (from say extreme cold), it goes in to ultra low power mode. Cam foot print is decent sized but it also acts as security to take a video from within the car if someone breaks in. Also if the cam is stolen, Owl will replace it for free.
Sometimes you have to look stuff up..........I looked at this a while ago, looks good but subscription service, uses mobile service. $100 per year after the 1st yr, or strictly wifi no cost. So if you don't mind that, should work out for you. I passed on it.

RSNav cam looks really promising. For only $65 I'm definitely interested in taking the plunge. My only concern is how its powered. I currently have a mirror tap for my radar detector and I'd like to know if its possible to power both of these from the same wiring harness..

I wish you could read the instructions. You can't zoom into the wiring harness either so very hard to tell.
I think I'm going to try one. Not too much to worry about.

Looks cool! Pretty much plug and play. However the camera records on where it is pointing correct. It’s not as if the front points outside and the screen records inside and toward back of car? Can you verify. Looks like in the vid the guy also records himself pulled over.

Whichever option you guys end up getting, just make sure to have it run even when the car is parked.

Ok with Ali link there are install instructions. Looks very easy except for one part for me cause I’m dumb and don’t know how to find where to plug the wire.
How do figure out where to find out which fuse to plug wire in (I assume you pull out fuse, place wire on top of metal part of fuse and push in) for ACC and constant wire??

I'd personally look for an unused fuse location and/or use a fuse tap instead.

You just need to use a volt meter to see if it’s a constant power. There should be some empty spots which means you just need to pull out the small panel and place the wire in the back and place the appropriate fuse in the location you choose. If no open spots are available, you can buy a fuse piggy back from any parts store. Either way is very simple. Hope this helps

ok I'm really dumb with this stuff.
So I would need 2 tap a fuse right? one for ACC and one for constant. Then plug the wire into the tap a fuse and put the original fuse on the tap a fuse?
Can't I just read manual and see what the fuses do and figure out which is constant and which is ACC?
Also a dumb questions, but with my volt meter, how can I test to see if power is constant? Where do I put the two prongs since the fuse hole is so small?

Ok I found on this YouTube video to use horn for constant and home link for acc: https://youtu.be/d93reJHwyeQ
How the heck do i remove this bottom part of mirror to see the inside to take pics for order? I already broke a clip on the small upper part above it:

Anyone know how to contact the Ali seller? Maybe I'm slow, but I can't find any way to. I want to see what the dual cam option looks like.

This can't possibly work with our cars... That piece in front of the mirror is not replaceable. On EU cars the HBA camera is already there... In other cars there are humidity sensors here. Here is a comparison shot between NA and EU cars highlighting the HBA camera:

My dash cam came in finally. Looks great. I test fitted it and it looks factory. I will try to install it tonight or tomorrow and let you guys know how it works. Impressed with the match to the OE trim.

I installed the camera this evening. Took about 45 min. I took the passenger “A” pillar off and pulled the glove box out. Wiring was very straight forward. No directions of course. Downloaded an app on my phone so you can change the settings and view the camera (it has a wireless signal). The app is crappy but works. The camera fit great and looks OEM. Tomorrow I will test it out. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. 99161

Where did you buy it? which link?
Also can you describe how to pull off the base of the mirror to install camera? Did you have to pull that off to know which model to buy? (One of the links says that you have to see the inside clips...I tried to pull the base off but could not and broke a tab)

It is the “JOOYFACT A1 Car DVR” on AliExpress.
The base of the mirror is very easy to pop off. Just uses a little moving back and forth and it slides almost straight down. The seller has to see the inside to verify which base to use.

did you squeeze it and rock it back and forth and pull it down? or what motions did you do? did you have to remove any other trim pieces around it? thanks

I installed the camera this evening.
Assuming you went with the single cam, instead of dual for the interior - right?

Can't imagine it's too difficult, since the kid at the hand car wash ripped my entire mirror off the other day while cleaning the glass. Luckily, it all went back together without any damage.

You can use a trim tool to pry lightly on each side. Then I moved back and forth and it slid straight down. To get that piece off no other trim needs to be removed. When you actually install the camera the big trim cover over the mirror needs to be pulled out to run the wiring. That takes two seconds and very little effort.

I am also trying to attempt to run some wire up behind the “A” pillar. Any trick on removing “A” pillar on the passenger side? I broke some tab on my other car so any help would be appreciated.

Just remove the airbag emblem by pulling out. Next. Take off the fuse cover on the side of the dash and also the trim panel that connects to the bottom of the A pillar. The A pillar is held in by 3 or 4 clips. Cant remember exactly. Just pull and it will need to be tweaked a little bit to come out by the dash itself.
