Hey all,

Wondering if anyone has ever tried to get a service history for their car through Audi customer service. I don't mean a dealer (I tried that and they said no), but has anyone had any luck emailing/calling Audi and getting any type of records?

I would like to do it for my car, but also for a car I see for sale at a non Audi used car dealer and I'm looking for advice on how to get some additional info.

I’ve gone to a dealership, they were able to tel me all that was done at any VW/Audi dealer. Anything done at a private mechanic shop would most likely show up on carFax.

You just have to find the right dealership with friendly service people. Most wont do anything for you unless you pay. But once in a while you can find a good person working at one of them. Just try another dealership, I’m sure someone will help you

also along those lines, you could just call a bunch until you find that nice person. when i was in the market, looking a lexus, i had a dealer pull up and read off service history over the phone, answer questions, etc and it wasnt even one of their cars.

I am not sure if you can get the service records through Audi of America customer service. I think it might be worth a try.

However, you may be able to get the invoices from the servicing dealership. You would need to call and ask them for the records/invoices. They will likely say no unless you explain why you want them, that you are willing to pay for them, and that they should whiteout the previous owners information in order to alleviate customer privacy concerns. They still may not be willing. But if you’re very nice, and explain that you are trying to understand the complete service record of your car, they might be willing.

If the original servicing dealer will not give you the records/invoices, or no longer has them, you can call any Audi dealership explain basically the same thing. This time, instead ask them for the ELSA records. These are kind of a consolidated record that is shared across all dealerships. It might not give you a cost or parts breakdown, but it will give you an idea of what was done.

Good luck with this. Please let us know if you call Audi of America customer service and they are able to give you the records.

I bought a 2010 S5 from a private owner who claimed the car was dealer maintained. He did not have records. The Carfax I paid $40 for showed 5 years without any service records. So it was deal over. The seller went to the Audi dealer and was able to get the 5 years at this dealer (Audi of Rochester in Mi) plus the prevoius 2.5 years of service at Audi of Naperville. With confirmation that the car was properly maintained, I bought it and have been happy. I don't know why Carfax was missing these 5 years of dealer records.

Carfax uses a desperate filing system that not all repair or dealers file with, that is the reason they haven't been all logged.

Any dealer should be able to provide you with that. Just call and talk to them. I did when I bought my other car from TX.

Yeah, I tried (there is only one where I live) and they said I needed to contact Audi directly. I decided to email Audi customer service instead of call as I'm hoping for one of two outcomes:

1. They specifically say that a dealer can get this for me in which case I print that and bring it to the dealer.
2. They give me the information.

I will let you know what happens.
