Does Anyone have the exact location or diagram of where the comfort module is in the 2009 A4 Cabriolet. Water is getting in and wet causing all kinds of electrical problems.
Thank you!

It’s under the carpet, either on the drivers or passengers side floor, sealed in a black plastic box. I forget which side.

Google will tell you for sure if you just search B7 A4 cabrio comfort module location. I hope that helps.

I was thinking it was in the rear because that’s where I thought water was coming in.. but I lifted my driver side mat and there is wet carpet under it. Where would water be getting in from if it’s on driver side floor

Well you don’t have a sun roof so that gets ruled out right away 😀

A lot of times what happens is the rain drains in the battery area get clogged up, that compartment fills with water and it flows in the cabin from the ECU box area. Under the ECU box there is a large opening into the cabin. The box has a seal but can only keep out so much water.

Also, there is a plastic piece of trim directly under your windshield. It’s held in with clips but should be sealed as well. If you’ve ever had a windshield replaced, it’s very likely that the trim was removed from your old windshield and wasn’t sealed correctly when it went back on the new one.

And, if you’re getting water in the drivers side, it’s possible for water to get into the passenger side as well because there’s channels in the body under the carpet.

You gotta Google where the comfort module is located because I forget what side it’s on. I wanna say it’s on the passenger side (right hand) under the carpet. Whatever side it’s on, the seat has to come out and some of the trim has to be removed to get to it.

If you’re having strange electrical issues and have a wet carpet, you’ll at least need a new comfort module and maybe some electrical wire repairs too. That’s what my gut tells me.

Like I told you in the other thread, nobody will be able to tell you where the water is coming in for sure without doing an actual water test on various places with a hose. I used to pull seats and carpets out, place a hose on the top of the windshield and look for water coming in. Actually seeing the water come in is the only way to tell for sure.

Thank you. I will pass it along to my mechanic to check these things. At least I have some idea of what to have them look for.

You’re welcome. I wish I could just tell you what it was for sure but that’s not likely to happen.

The seal for the cabin pollen filter is another thing that can cause leaks in the car. Basically the same thing happens when the drains under the battery get clogged. Water fills up the compartment and leaks in the pollen filter instead of the ECU box side.

It’s fairly common so there’s a good chance of it being one of the 3 main things I pointed out. I never really worked on too many cabrios when I was a tech. Those were really labor intensive so the shop foreman usually took one for the team and did those. 😀

I hope it’s not a top problem because that could get expensive real fast.

Good luck and be sure to update this thread so we know what it was.

Update, control module was flooded. It is under the driver side carpet under the pedals. They dried it out and cleaned all the drain plugs. Everything seems to be working for now. But eventually it will need to be replaced if it starts corroding further. Hopefully this will hold for awhile.

Sorry to hear that it's good when you catch it early. At least if you didn't have to get a new one you have time to save for a new one lol. You just never know water was getting into my driverside as well. I found that the PO of the car cracked and broke off a big chunk of the ECU cover and the water would get into the cabine through there. Luckily I seemed to have caught it in time because I replaced the cover and haven't had issues since.

Your rear window needs to be re-glued. Look in the Cabriolet section for my post.

I do need to do that too. There is a major gap between the glass and fabric
