I had a B7 A4 that I prepped and coated. I had some issues with the way it turned out, I am just looking for someone to tell me what I did wrong, and how I can avoid it on my next car?
I made a concoction of dawn dish soap, chemical guys clean slate, and chemical guys bug and tar remover in a foam cannon, I let it sit for 10 minutes. I then hand washed the car with chemical guys clean slate and bug and tar remover in a bucket with water. Rinsed, then sprayed with Iron-X, I let that sit then rinsed off. I then used a auto scrub clay sponge and chemical guys clay lube. Rinsed the car again, then dried it.
I then used a micro fiber cutting pad and chemical guys v32 compound to cut out the nasty defects from a bunch of wet insulation falling on it (long story), then went over it with a hex logic orange pad and sonax perfect finish. I did not end up polishing the whole car, I just wanted to get the nasty stuff. After that I wiped down the car with car pro eraser.
I then put a layer of car pro cquarts UK 3.0 on. I did a part of a panel at a time buffing off after. I let it dry over night and put a coat of car pro Gliss on top. I then let it sit for 24 hours and then applied a layer of car pro reload.
Unfortunately the lighting was insufficient and I missed buffing off in some spots and the "rainbow streaks" appeared. Over time I noticed a few more. Then after about 2 weeks I was able to wash the car with car pro reload. When I rinsed it off and dried the car I noticed even more of the "rainbow streaks"
I was wondering what is causing them, and why I am seeing som many more after the wash than right after I did the coating. I will admit to missing a few spots, but this is excessive.
Did I put it on to thick? Did I not change out towels enough when buffing off? should I be doing even smaller sections, and buffing off almost immediately?
here is a quick pic of what I am talking about:
