Hi Guys,

I've had my S4 for about 2 months now. I'm a total newbie when it comes to audi's but am fairly mechanically minded and have done a HEAP of work on my previous cars, but just don't have the time at the moment.

I've noticed that the idle on it is pretty rough (can definitely feel it in cabin), and it's gone from half on the oil level to needing topping up in that time. Another thing i have noticed as well, although it may just be that i'm enjoying the car too much is that i'm getting pretty bad fuel economy. When i first got the car, i got a couple of tanks at the 500-530k's till hitting reserve. Now i'm getting about 400-450.

From my research this points to the PCV needing replacing if i'm not mistaken.

The car is well and truly out of warranty so i'll be using an independent mechanic here in Perth, Western Australia to service the car, but i want to get 99% of the parts off ecs/europaparts/etc.

Since getting to the PCV will require the supercharger coming off, i'd like to make a parts list of things that i should be replacing at the same time, along with the main ticket items i think will need to be looked at anyway.

Main things I want to tackle with this service:

PCV
Thermostat
Water Pump
Ignition coils
Spark plugs
Carbon Clean

So my couple of questions are what else should i tackle in the main ticket items, and also, what additional parts should i be getting, eg gaskets, replacement bolts etc.

Maybe with a thorough enough listing here we can maybe sticky or put it into one of the other stickied threads for others/newbies to use as a resource?

Information i've found so far

I cannot really help re: solution (possible PCV diagnosis), but I can at least reply and maybe ease your pain a bit.. [emoji16]

Seems as if those two things you mention are a bit of a right of passage.. [emoji1] I also experienced/experience both. Situation normal I think. [emoji6] Wait ‘til you go Stage 1.. Fuel mileage dropped for me a LOT since I always want to be ‘in it’! [emoji20]

My previous ‘car’ was a QX70 and I expected the S4 to get better gas mileage.. but not so much. With the 325 hp N/A V6 in the QX I was getting 16.4 driving aggressively... With my 3.0 TFSI I was getting about 18.8 driving ‘like a granny’... now with Stage 1 I am getting about 16... or worse.. my running ave is still dropping.. [emoji28]

Let me know when/if you do the PCV and it helps with gas mileage significantly.
I have about 100K miles on my S4 and I may attempt your project next summer.

Thanks
