View Full Version : AC compressor not starting at low revs

So i recently had to change my ac compressor, simply because its pulley disintegrated after the bearings wore out and there was no way to change just the pulley.
Anyway, after installing the brand new compressor, i went through the whole process of changing the dryer and vacuuming the system before filling up with refrigerant.

The problem now is that the compressor generally does not kick in when the car is on idle or low revs. Its only when the revs get to about 3000 that the compressor switches on and starts to cool. Once it switches on though, it continues to work and and cools well even if revs drop to idle.

I'm mostly sure i put in the appropriate quantity of gas and even if i did not, i was not far off more or less from the recommended amount.

Any ideas why this is happening. I'm suspecting the pressure switch but I'm not sure. I'm no expert on the ac system.
