It's been far too long, how's everyone?

Long story short, Audi became the DD once again and while I don't mind the FI, I moved and don't wanna be "that guy" in my neighborhood

What's a good B7 S4 catback that's mean when I want it to be but when I'm not on it, won't drone or if I wanna be stealthy, won't give me away?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Anything with big front resonators.

I’d look and see if Billy Boat has a Stealth version of something that fits your car.

Billy boat, there's a brand I haven't heard of in ages

Milltek came to mind earlier, am I wrong to assume they're good as well?

I had a Miltek exhaust on my old MK4 GLI. I liked it a lot. The quality was superb and it was quiet until about 3K and really opened up.

Billy Boat makes a very nice exhaust. I really like mine. It’s deep in low RPMS but is generally pretty quiet.

I’m assuming you’re running the JHM Y pipe and that’s the reason why you went with a S4 exhaust?

My experience is with their A4 exhaust and if they make a S4 version, it might not compare. It could be louder but I think their A4 Stealth exhaust is a good balance of tone and volume.

Yeah, it's a A4 Y with a JHM FI B7 catback

Didn't know Jack about resonators and had them placed where they are in the pic (accidentally ordered without them)

Could I also get them taken off again and rewelded towards the 2-3k range to avoid the drone zone or just get a new exhaust?

I would suggest [wrench] a resonated Miltek system or the Europa exhaust also. Since it will come with a [race] DP

Milltek is great or for a slightly cheaper option, I'd highly recommend Borla full downpipe-back system.

Another vote for Milltek here, it's what I have on my B6, it's the resonated version. It is fairly quiet while cruising on the highway and around town, but still has a great sound and tone when above 3k RPM. Thankfully I got mine used.

Europa in Piscataway right?

Gonna check out Milltek as well, just gonna see what y-pipe fits it first

Since you have the JHM Y pipe [wrench]ed. You have to specify that you need an exhaust for a B7 S4. The Europa 1 wouldnt be any quieter. It mite be louder because it lacks resonators. Im not sure About the Miltek system for the S4 version [confused]. But since it will be for the S version it would be designed to be higher decibels. I think you would also need to [wrench] the JHM Y DP to a regular A4 to maybe get something with lower DB's

I’d start looking at A4 options since most cat backs will come with a down pipe like was said. And you can sell the JHM Y pipe and FI exhaust to get most of the cost back. Honestly, 2.5 inch or bigger muffler pipes aren’t going to be much more efficient than the 2.25 pipes most cat backs come with. Dual 2.5 inch pipes won’t flow more than dual 2.25 pipes if 2.25 pipes are already efficient so there’s really no need to run an exhaust made for the S4 besides how aggressive it might sound. And since that’s the opposite of what you want now, it seems like the wrong choice.

I don’t think you can go wrong with Europa, Billy Boat or Miltek.

Another option would be to [wrench] additional resonators or larger 1's in the place of what you have now. It will lower [race] your db's. But I dont think by much thou to make it ultra quite. Even with the factory exhaust with a HFC decibels are up there [:(]

Really just wanna remove the drone zone aroud 2500-3k, since past that it's fine

So more move or add more resonators really I figure

[wrench] a stock B7 S4 exhaust with the stock dump valves on the rear mufflers would be your [up] bet. Its economical and reliable and will [race]. The only draw back I [o_o] is the weight. They are definitely a boat anchor compared to the aftermarket [race] exhausts [:(]

I am running the JHM/FI B6 catback and its not too bad. I have the larger resonators (they offer three sizes of resonators, or a non-res version).

Yeah, think I'll ask Jake for larger resonators and ask where to place them

I have a factory RS4 exhaust if interested. 90k rust free. Cali car most of life.

Try the vibrant super quiet 3” resonator paired with a Dynomax #17553 dual Outlet muffler

If you’re prepared to work with a stock B7 RS4 cat back, it’ll be dirt cheap. You can leave the resonator bypass in the rear mufflers in the closed position, so it’ll be quiet.

The rear mufflers are like suitcases though, so you’ll either have to modify the spare wheel well, or the mufflers themselves.
