Hi All,

I apologize if this topic has already been covered, I did search but was unable to find any specific data.

I found a TSB that applies to my car that is a software update to my TCU. My question is simple: will I get pushback from the dealer coming in and requesting this TSB be performed? My car exhibits all the symptoms outlined in the TSB however it is out of warranty. I am happy to pay out of pocket for the work.

Any advise or experience is greatly appreciated with preforming TSBs out of warranty.

Also PSA for all my 2010 & 2011 S4 friends out there Audi released a TSB on Feb 27, 2017 for an update to your TCU software. My current version is 0007 new version is 0013. This TSB supposedly addresses harsh downshifting which i know a-lot of cars suffer from.

TSB# 2027363/4

Here are the notes of what the TSB addresses:

*Harsh downshifting of multiple gears: 7-5, 4-3, 2-1. This may happen during just one of these shifts.

* A bump is felt after vehicle comes to a stop (2-1 downshift).

* Fluctuating engine speed after 5-4 shift with accelerator at 80-100% accelerator pedal position (kick-down).

Eligible TCU P/N:
8K0 927 156 M - Old Software Version 0008 / New Software Version 0012
8K1 927 156 C - Old Software Version 0002 / New Software Version 0006
8KI 927 156 AD Old Software Version 0002 / New Software Version 0006
8K1 927 156 K - Old Software Version ALL / New Software Version 0013

Called the dealer and was able to scheduled an appointment no problem. Was quoted $400 for the update service.

For those interested my car has had the gear position sensor replaced and the mechatronic repair kit done but still suffered from harsh downshifts. Really hoping this resolves that!

Will update tomorrow with the results.

I love the $400.00 quote to plug into the car for an hour...

They’re charging you to fulfill a TSB?

Yeah, it is comical they charge for this. Final bill was $480 with tax and everything.

Car definitely shifts better.

Best part is they washed my car after I specifically asked the service adviser not to have it washed. Looks like I get to waste my weekend doing another paint correction. I hate dealing with dealerships, this is exactly why I avoid them at all costs...

That should be illegal to charge that much for a software update....what an absolute rip off.
