I have clutch clip on high load maybe 50-75% throttle in the middle of the RPM range when upshift or downshift especially in 4'th gear. I have to let off the throttle for it to engage. Doesn't slip under WOT and for the most part drives great in every other instance. If I wait for the clutch to engage fully I can floor it in high gear low rpm and it doesn't slip at all. I also noticed the shifts a little mushy under normal driving in D mode like it's not as snappy and direct as I remember it being but I might be imagining that or just paying closer attention now that I know there could be an issue.

All mods are in my sig (including 034 TCU tune). I don't know enough about the inner workings of the DSG to know what could cause this type of issue. The car is pretty strong, could be not enough line pressure? I don't think clutch packs are the issue because it doesn't slip at WOT but tell me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

I experienced something similar to this. Go to an Audi dealer, and check for Faulty DTC's. It sounds like a Circuit Board/Mechatronic issue.

I just had a dealer do a dsg service... I figure if there were any codes they would have said something and I've scanned it myself with vcds and haven't seen anything. How could mechatronics cause this issue?

Slips in the middle of gears are very abnormal. This would be my guess too.

You could also try to update your tune or do a DSG readaption.

It's very strange...

Is this the readaptation process?

If not, where can I find it?

I left out what might be an important detail here now that I'm thinking about it... A few months and about 5 or 10k miles ago I was driving my brother around and wanted to show him a launch. So I did a full throttle 5k launch (so fun) and upon doing so I started seeing smoke out the back right away. I thought for sure I screwed something up bad. I was around the corner from my house thankfully so I pulled up quickly and shut it off. Turns out I cracked the external filter housing and it was leaking transmission oil on to the exhaust. I towed it to a shop and had them replace the external filter and housing and fluid (didn't do the internal filter at that point). Car seemed to be fine afterwards thankfully but I never noticed this specific issue before that happened... Could a pressure drop or fluid level drop cause an issue like this? Maybe mess up adaptation or something in the mechatronics? It didn't leak very much fluid didn't even throw a check engine before I shut it down. Thoughts? Sorry for not including this earlier I had already put it behind me and forgot that it could be related.

Exactly, slips in the middle are abnormal. I also have a 2012, and drive aggressively. For me, it was a Mechatronic issue. They weren't lying because I took it to another Audi dealer for a 2nd opinion, and they said the same thing.

UPDATE

We decided to replace the clutch pack with a brand new factory assembly. Once it the repair was complete we couldn't get the clutch adaptation process to work. It stopped for some sort of safety error. No codes or anything. Took it to dealer, they couldn't do it either recommended pulling the tranny again for inspection.

Does anybody have any idea why the adaptation process won't complete? Seems like there might be a mechatronics issue. Car was driving pretty well before we pulled the tranny besides the clutch slipping in certain situations. Now I have no idea what to do. Do I replace the mechatronics unit? Could the TCU itself be at fault even though we flashed it back to stock? Could it be anything besides the mechatronics? Help!

I did this once and the ross tech instructions are missing that you need to have parking brake engaged.....have you tried that?

That's it!!!???? I have been trying to do this for months with no success. I even took it to the dealer for the DSG service and showed them the instructions. They told me that you really didn't need to do this unless you replaced the mechatronic unit which I haven't. Knowing the e-brake needs to be engaged makes me want to try again.

Ever figure out the root cause or solution? I have pretty gnarly slip right now that I’m trying to fix
