Hey everyone. My 2007 A4 EPC light has been coming on and off and I’m hoping someone knows the fix.

It only happens in the morning when the car is cold. As soon as it warms up and I restart it the light goes off. When the light is on it take a while for the car to shift gears.

The car doesn’t stall out. I got a chance to read the codes earlier when the light was on.

P0458
P0245
P0241
P2295
P0031
P0035
P0139

Thank you.

I had the EPC light coming on in my 2009 and it was typically accompanied by a CEL and several codes. What I ended up doing to fix it was to replace one of the two relays under the PCM which is located in the engine compartment in a plastic box under the driver's windshield wiper. I haven't seen the issue since.

Thank you for the information. I think that may be above my level of expertise. I’ll wait and see what a few others say before purchasing anything. From the research I’ve done it could be one of about 20 different things. All of the YouTube videos are just people filming the EPC light on which is super helpful [emoji849]

It's a bit different from mine. I used to get the EPC and traction control off light whenever it would rain really heavy. The car would go into limp mode as well. When i finally had a chance to look. I found that the PO cracked the ECM cover so whenever there was a lot of rain the water would get through the crack in the cover and mess with the electronics inside. I got a new cover and never had the issue again. So it might be worth at least taking off the ECM cover just to see how everything looks in that area.

Search this forum for "614 relay" and it will tell you all you need to know. I had the EPC llght, check engine light and limp mode with these same codes. I replaced both 614 relays (now replaced with 644, I believe) and the problem has not returned.

Do you have the part number? Are these located under the dash or under the hood?

Thanks.

The relays are under the hood. Without searching I don't know the part number. As I said, if you search this forum you will learn everything you need to know.

Thanks. I read the ones I could find. From what I gathered the 614s have been replaced with 644 but when I looked those up they were for different models. Didn’t want to chance it and got the 614s. Should know if that’s fixed it by Monday or Tuesday. It makes sense that it’s electrical with it being so intermittent.

The car was also at the dealership recently for a computer issue and it makes sense that something in that area would go wrong immediately after. That’s how they roll.

Hey everyone. I got around to replacing the 2 relays today. When I was removing the rain tray the rubber gasket that attaches to the windshield can loose on the one end. Any advise to attach it again?

I’ve got a 2006 A4 2.0T Quattro with trouble codes: P0458, P0245, P2295, P2401, P0031, P0036.

Have replaced the following: Spark Plugs, Valve Cover gasket, High pressure fuel pump, N75 and hoses that go with it, PCV valve and gasket, Vapor Canister Purge Valve, Cam follower and seal.

Still have the EPC light on, and just does not have the “get up and go” power when I put the pedal to the floor. Seems like limp mode? Takes a long time to get up to speed. I can put it in Sport shift and shift it manually, but even then it takes a while for it to get up to speed. Not sure what else to look for!

Any help would be GREATLY Appreciated!!

P0458 N80 short to ground
P0245 N75 short to ground
P2295 N276 short to ground
P2401 EVAP Leak Detection Pump Control Circuit short to ground
P0031 Oxygen sensor short to ground
P0036 Oxygen sensor open circuit

Seeing a trend here? Check relays under the ECU

P.S. People are more likely to respond if you provide the basic information above. I just Googled 'Ross Tech P0458' etc.
