I've recently pulled my motor for a few things. One being a new turbo. Upon removing the downpipe, i saw my wastegate opening had a small crack.

Picked up a second complete motor for parts, manifold on that has cracks around the wastegate opening also. Is this a common problem? Both setups have roughly 120k.

Fairly common. Heat cycles and improper cool down is my guess. I have a good number of cracked manifolds from the turbos I’ve rebuilt.

This usually happens when people let the turbo get really hot on nice pulls and then park it and shut the car off. It's bad for the life of a turbo.
