So im driving an Audi A4 b5 1996. I have the old style steering wheel. My friend gave me an Audi A4 B6 steering wheel. It doesnt fit, the centrer is too big, (bolt) He has an Audi A4 b5 1998. And the S-line steering wheel fits on that car. I want to put an S-Line steering wheel on my car aswell. What should i do for it to fit? Is there some kind of a adapter to change the size?

You would have to change the entire steering column because the center spline that it mounts on as you noticed is a different size. You could probably find it for cheap from a 2000-2002 b5 in a salvage yard.

Itís not difficult to replace the steering column, unless youíre just a lazy sort of person.

There are also adapters to step up from small to large spline.

What is the size of your current column spline?

I cant tell you that at the moment. Could you give me a link for the adapters?

The Adapter is a OEM VW small spline to large spline adapter. Early B5's are small spline. late b5's are large spline.

This part was used on some MK3's and every MK3 and MK3.5 cabrio. They are pressed onto the steering shaft and are VERY hard to remove. They must also be shortened to seat properly on the b5 small spline shaft.
I have one in my 1996 b5 drift car, so that i could run a short hub adapter for facelift b5. clockspring and everything else still fit and worked fine.

Would this spline adapter also work on a 1996 audi 80 convertible now it has the same steering wheel as prefacelift B5 and i would like to install a B6 steering wheel.

I don't see why not. I'm like 99% sure the splines are the same.
