Hey guys--

Since my surgery I haven't been able to drive at all but now that I've hit 4 weeks post op and I'm allowed to take my sling off, I decided to go fire up the A4 again. It cranks, but won't start.

This is all that VCDS Lite can pull up so far.

I can hear the fuel pump priming, battery is brand new, Oil is less than 1000 mi old, full tank of 93, Plugs Red top coils and wires are less than 50000mi old, and ICM is deleted.

Kind of at a loss here. Any ideas?

check the coolant temp sensor

check the coolant temp sensor

Wouldnít that throw a code?

Not necessarily, my car pisses through coolant temp sensors for some reason. Symptoms are poor MPG and long/no starts.

No start means what? Doesnít crank? Cranks but doesnít fire? Fires but doesnít run? If it cranks but doesnít fire then thereís only 4 things it could be. Spark, fuel, compression or timing.

The engine code is battery related. Is the battery good?

It cranks but doesnít fire. Itís fuel I figured that out earlier. Push starting it didnít do anything at all- no sputter.

When I say the battery is brand new I mean like itís less than 8 hours old kind of new lol

Then I would check fuel pressure after the fuel pressure regulator. See if there is a good flow when the fuel pump is primed.

If there is and it still doesnít start and you are sure there is spark and compression then I guess start looking at injectors?

However if it was running and now it isnít then itís probably something more simple?

I had a similar issue. It turned out to be a relay right next to the Ecu. I hunk itís called the J271 relay. It was around 40$ from the dealer, they had it next day. I would get long/ no start. The fuel pump was working while cranking so on long starts or repeated starts it would blow a cloud of smoke out of the exhaust bc it was never sparking it. I had codes at all and this was the last thing I tried after replacing the fuel pump, coils, plugs, CTS, crank sensor. I would try this, itís only 40$.
