Been hearing a loud gargling or whining sound for the past month or so. I thought it was the water pump since it's been 110K miles so I replace the thermostat and water pump. Turns out both parts were good and it might actually be the power steering pump going bad. Anyone have a DIY or tips on how to remove it? Also, do our radios need to be programmed? My XM quit working so I bought a used radio unit on eBay since I couldn't find a new OEM unit for a B8. I installed it and the XM appears again but the radio keeps cutting off every two seconds.

I am looking for a power steering DIY also. Mine I know is bad, cause it turns like a military duece and a half.

I am also (unfortunately) looking for a DIY. on how to remove / replace my 2011 S4 power steering pump. Ive flushed the system twice, bleed the system 3 times the pump is just noisy but my steering still works great...……. I hope I don't have to put the S4 into "service position" to get the pump out? Anyone done this job yet?

Did you guys have a power steering fluid leak or pumps just failed?

Just to get to the power steering pump, youll have to have the front end stuff at least 10 inches forward to allow room to work. You'll need triple square/star bits if I remember right.

Thanks a million for the heads up, I don't want to start working on the car only to find out I don't have the right tools.
I just put the entire front end back together after changing belts, hoses, crankshaft pulley and tensioners now two weeks later I've gotta do it all over again for the power steering pump. Very Frustrating that its not a simple job.
Does the steering pump need to come out from underneath the car (out and down) or does it need to be pulled out & Up? thanks again
