So I have a hunch my PCV is leaking. Smell of coolant occasionally along with loss of coolant and oil with no visual signs of a leak. I was looking in the engine compartment trying to see if there was a way to get a bore scope under the SC to see if there is a leak and I noticed this cover that runs along the valve cover and SC. Anyone know if you remove it can you see under the SC, or what it covers?
page 11 and 13 show them removing a screw from this cover.

No, that cover is just used to hold things in place.
One side uses two screws, the other uses 3 clips.
There is no way to really scope the PCV.
Pulling the blower is pretty easy though, I did it yesterday.

Yeah, I left mine off by accident when I put the blower back on... Oops.
Oh well, I was going to remove it when I put the thermal spacers in any way.

What did you use for the SC tensioner pulley? I had to tape wrenches together without service position. Kicked my ass.

Go to a hardware or auto parts store and buy a water pump tensioner wrench. It’s like $20 makes a world of difference.
Or it might be called a serpentine tensioner wrench.

I had one. I might just be dumb. I’ll try again just to see though.
That’s the flat one with the 3/8 drive on the end? Or a box end? I even went to HF. Lol

the 3.0t self study guide says the various bits of insulation are intended to reduce the noise from the sc... however the one under the sc probably provides some good insulation from heat coming off the block
