I didn't see it on the maintenance schedule, at what point if ever should the manual transmission fluid be replaced?

I'd say it's nice to do every 80,000 miles.

By the way, I have the transmission fluid and the rear differential fluid for sale in the quantities needed for refills. PM me if interested. Feel free to make an offer. [:D]:

I thought Audi listed it as a lifetime fill, but I don't trust that. I've done it a few times, mainly to change out aftermarket fluid that wasn't as good as stock, but I'll be doing it around every 30k. May be overkill, but it's an easy job. 10mm hex for drain/fill (at least on my 13). Biggest pain is you have to remove the brace and technically get new bolts when reinstalling it. And wheels have to be off the ground when you do. Stock fluid shifted the best from the few I've tried - including Millers. Takes just under 4 bottles. Next time I may see if a short allen wrench can remove the drain plug within the space between the brace.

Rear sport diff has 2 fluids - one is ATF and I think the consensus is that doesn't need to be changed. Just make sure you drain/fill the correct side. The ATF fill port has ATF stamped above it. Both are 5mm hex i believe.

Yes is listed as lifetime ha, it came out super dark. I did my first tranny oil change @ 45k and will do another change soon. For diff I’ve done it twice on both fluid sides. I use Motul for tranny/diff and OEM for the other side.

So I need 4 bottles of the oem transmission fluid if I have a shop do it?

My Audi dealer replaced mine at the 35K maintenance mark. I didn't even ask for it. Since he started it, I'll probably do it every 35k or so myself since it looks easy. So Dewar, you'd say OEM is better than both Redline and Motul? Wow, noted for sure.

4 bottles needed. I didn't try redline or motul. I had tried amsoil I had sitting around and millers. I got tired of trying different things so just went back to stock. No real testing done outside of how it felt -- they didn't seem as smooth. Just be sure to get GL-4 gear oil for the transmission.

I'm going to have an independent shop drain and fill with oem oil. Do you actually need new bolts or can you reuse? If you do need new bolts do you know how many and the part #?

For 20 bucks I'd probably just get new bolts for the brace since they're torque to yield. One thing i want to try next time i do it is to replace the oem non magnetic drain plug with something like a Fumoto FG7B drain plug. This way i could just pop it open without removing that brace. I just don't know if it would clear it when installed. It will probably be a tight fit since there is not much space.
