View Full Version : Third brake light - missing some leds

Seems that leds are not the strongest part of Audi build quality.
First the door sills, twice, and now the third brake light.

Anyway, I will have a go at repairing this one myself.
Ordered a dense waterproof red led strip 12V, and will attempt to dismantle the light, and replace the LED strip.
If anyone have a "how to" remove the third brake light, or any good input for this, I will use that for the writeup.
In advance thanks :-)
It is USD 220.- for a new on on ebay, and the LED strip is USD 8.-

Also having this problem on the left side of my third brake light. I look forward to your write up as I was quoted at $300 in labor plus parts from an indy shop.

Hmm, gone, is the text, anyway,
I have seen a few youtube videos on how to on other cars, but need the Audi "how to" remove the light first.
From there I have a good idea on how to

From this picture, it looks like the inside trim has to come off to get to the nuts holding the LED panel in place. Take pictures of every step and post a DIY.
