Well I'm sure I've lazily butchered the title of this post but how the heck did some people get those RPM/shift bars to pop up in their display? Not talking the HUD, but in between the RPM and Speedo gage? Very technical terms, I know...

thanks all!

check out the vcds mods post here on AZ. You need to activate the lap timer in your DIS using a vagcom cable and VCDS. Highly recommend getting a vagcom cable from europaparts.com asap if you haven't already. You can do various mods and delf-diagnose issues as they arise, as well as perform some logging functions to track your car's performance. The lap timer gives you the boost gauge as well as your oil temp at all times. I think the vagcom cable paid for itself with just that mod alone. The VCDS software is a free download, and you can get the 3-vin version of the cable for $199.

OlyS6, is this the thread to which you are referring?

Yep, that one should work just fine. There's a downloadable file with instructions for various mods for our cars right at the top of the thread.

I enabled Lap Timer for my 2014 A6 but still not getting the Shift Points. Granted I did so via the ODBEleven... but it appears I may have to use the Long Code to enable that function. Am i correct in my assumption?

After seeing this I enabled it using Carista app. Works so long as the selector is in “manual”.

Shift lights are only on S cars, as far as I know... AND only while in manual mode, for obvious reasons. Hope this helps.

Would you mind posting a link to the 3-VIN VCDS please?
