2006 WRX (not an sti) with only: exhaust + meth injection + a tune on 93 octane... the 2006 wrx's are fucking strong...

350 wheel torque.... 20psi at 2400rpms...

and just for comparisons sake... a stock sti on this dyno puts down between 235-245whp...

...and this is a wrx. subaru did something right with the new 2.5 wrx's

think the 98 1.8t with a chip could take it?

Now if they could just do something in the style department.

that's nuts. now transplant everything into the bug-eye model and it'd be perfect!

Scoobies.. Love em or loathe em, they are fantastic cars!! (Rather have an Evo V personally, but no denying the capability of the scoobsters!)

HELL NO!...not even chipped would an 1.8 make that kind of torque at the same hp .....

^ Yes it could!

Those are some badass numbers too!

evo 9's are putting down crazy numbers as well. exhaust/boost controller and you have 340awhp

chipped 1.8t does make anything under 270whp and 360lb.ft of torque

btw, that modded WRX gives about the same numbers as a bone stock Z28 LS1 [:p]

but the ls1 gets all the power to only 2 wheels! i like my all wheel drive

he didnt say that a chipped 1.8T makes the same power
he said it could take on WRX like this one

a chipped/exhaust 1.8 wasn't even close to my car before a tune and these new wrx's are much much much faster with mods. I wasn't under the impression that chipped 1.8s are faster than stis? Maybe he didn't have the best chip?

wtf is meth injection?

jpsimon
01-28-2006, 03:55 PM
its like water injection... but with alchy. It gets injected into intake manifold, increases the octane and lets you run more boost safer.

oh methanol... i was thinking like meth like drugs for some reason.

robots_are_neon

daaaaaamnnnn! A non STI WRX with minor mods putting down that number?! Thats insane! Cant imagine how fast these subbies are gonna get when more mods come out.

the 06's have a 2.5 in stead of the 2.0 like they used to... like mine :(

I used to run water injection on my MR2 Turbo. Never used anything other than water though. I was more concerned with keeping temps down, rather than upping the boost though. Was happy to keep it at a mere 18psi! [:)]

Dosen't using methanol cut the engine life short?

Toff_The_Toffee
01-29-2006, 07:47 AM
Not heard that one. It will increase the octane in the same way toulene will, but never heard of it decreasing engine life. i was just too cheap to buy it!

I have been thinking of running meth injection when I do a new turbo but it is a matter of debate whether or not it is corrosive to engine components. Apparently it can cause piston rings/landings to fail prematurely but nobody that I know of has been using it for long enough to attest to its long-term reliability.

they've just gotten progressively less attractive. I mean, the old boxy 22B STi's were AMAZING! then the bug-eye came over here as the first wrx, and it was phenomenal. then they face-lifted it and it got 'meh'. now, hideous.

22b is amazing, but i love the bugeyes.. they are my fav (with my edm headlights of course)... the 06's are just ugly... although i do love the 06 rally car... it looks mean as hell.

yeah man, I want to get a reasonably-priced bug-eye wagon as a daily. I think that would a lot of fun!

i wish i had gotten a wagon originally. Ah well.

im proud of my subie, i would rather have my wrx than almost any audi (with exceptions of course, see: rs4 wagon, s8)! But at least I have respect for a lot of cars unlike you who on the other hand is very close minded and ignorant. There will always be a more expensive car...

Hell, you are only driving an audi... get a fucking ferrari you kraut driving fool. [rolleyes] [;)]

Not ignorance. Just not my cup of tea. I've driven all the hi perf cars out there these days. Not to mention that I have owned, built, raced more high perf cars in my life too. So narrow minded doesn't come into it all.
I perfer real engineering to less than engineering.
Subie, still an ugly car, losta noise and no style. Except the newer body style, maybe.
Although the Forester is a decent small Mom & Pop or Family car.

Subie..."Built inexpensive to stay that way."

Seems to always come to mind.

[az]

And as for the Ferrari... I'll wait till my friend gets his RS4 and I drive it. And that would be the car of choice for me.
