So I finally pulled the trigger on the coil overs and now the exhaust! I’m currently at AWE getting it installed and can not wait to hear this thing!
Opted for the touring with resonated down pipes and black diamond tips. Trying to get the tips as flush with the rear valance as possible. Will post pics and updates and video in a few hours !

Little eye candy in the waiting area as well! [emoji15]

Awesome..looking forward to your feedback! If they happen to have any of our cars on hand without the downpipes, try to get as much intel as possible for us! :)
I might be looking to pull the trigger, especially if I find a used system. Also, curious what AWE charges for installs.. you can PM me.

Other than moving those tips back a little more ( I’m sure there’s limited room left) any other way of getting these tips more flush. I’m not loving them sticking out the way they are.....? Any help would be greatly appreciated

the bad news is that if the tips are seated as far back as they can be on the y-pipe at the end, you have to adjust the other connections. The most important one is the middle under the car. It also helps to have a second set of hands pushing on everything while you tighten it up. The exhaust hangers should supposedly be pointing toward the front of car at about 15* so that they can flex toward the rear and be pointing straight down when the exhaust is warm. (hopefully that makes sense).
Long story short, I agree the tips should be under the car more, especially because they'll be sticking way out when hot if not. I had the issue I point out initially where I couldnt move them back further at first, and then was able to adjust everything perfectly when I switched to ams downpipes. But it was a bit of a pain crawling around under the car to do it solo! Hopefully you are close to them and they'll fix you up.

I hear ya. I’m going to shoot them an email and see if there are any options that are not too invasive [emoji37]

Spoke with John at AWE yest. ( my point of contact) and they are speaking with the engineer on possible corrections to the tips so I will wait and see what they come up with. I will also keep you up to date.

Do you have any drone? How does it sound in the cabin of your car on the highway?

So I never drove with my windows down.. now I have them down all the time. Sounds great from inside the cabin. High speeds when you hit the gas you can hear the engine but if I hit 70 and ease up on the gas it’s quiet ... I perceive drone as that loud terrible annoying sound on the highway with window down sounds like a deep frequency.... this is not only engine sound when wot and then quiet.
Other than the tip placement I love it. I need to have my wife drive it to hear it from the outside.

Drone is also that annoying bass frequency at a low rpm that's heard in the cabin...windows up or down.

Question:
Will adding a better intake be beneficial to the exhaust performance and or sound???

The version 2 of the AWE S-flow CF intake can add a handful of HP, according to their website dyno charts, but not much. I have it, as well as the AWE touring exhaust, and it didn't change my exhaust notes any, although I was already very happy with the exhaust. I was more looking to improve overall airflow to the turbos.

Are there any current rear valsnce that are larger and may cover more of the down pipe tips ? The A7 seemed to taper in and have that square opening for the oem tip. Wondering in there’s an after market or s7 rear balance that may fit 2016 A7??? Anyone know??

Yes it’s a high flow intake tube with a high flow performance filter that sits inside the stock box, so you get the airflow benefit without excessive whine. It’s a nice subtle increase in sound. You can choose to remove the airbox but then the whine gets much louder.

Thanks. I was just looking for increase air without any sound bc I do NOT want to take away from the awe sound at all! Lol.

Here's what I did to get the tips tucked in. I have the AWE Touring exhaust on a A7. I bought some eBay tips for winter use. I found that I could adjust the passenger side but the outboard drivers side tip stuck out too far.
I cut an arc in the flange to move it in a bit and adjusted the other three tips to match.

Thank you! I knew you could do it. So you cut the awe tips and moved them in. What year is yours? Also can you give me more pics. I’m lost in what I’m looking at??? Can you also send me pics of how they are currently in your car. Thanks so much!!!!!
Also. What did you use to cut it with. Just unlock them and cut it and put them back in??

No, I cut aftermarket tips to move them in but the procedure is the same.

I can drop a bunch of pictures in your thread so anybody that want to move the tips can see them.
What did you use to cut it with.
Hacksaw with a 32 tooth blade and a file to smooth the edges.
Just unlock them and cut it and put them back in??
Basically. I wrapped all tips in blue painters tape to reduce scratches during the fitting. I also bought heavier clamps because I broke the lighter type clamp trying to tighten them. You may want heavier clamps (eBay) since you are going to be cutting onto one.
Mark where the tips and the pipe meet first before putting a wrench on anything. You will want to put them back with the same alignment after the alteration.
First picture is the clamps I used. Second picture - the tips I bought. Third picture - tips in place. Fourth picture - clamps on the tips.

Post your pics! So did you leave your awe tips alone. So they stick out more than the ones you use for winter??

So just the box that surrounds the intake??? I don’t want any whine just improved airflow for the exhaust. However, how does the box improve this???

The RS7 airbox itself. It is only slightly louder than stock and has a larger filter.

So I can just google that a swap it and it will give me better air intake without any tic euro injen whine. Cool!
Anyone know if the rs7 rear diffuser sticks out more than a stock A7 sline wondering if I replace the rear diffuser/valsnce it May cover the tips more???

Ya know I just unscrewed the tips and pushed back the outer quads as far back as they could go and locked them down. And then, just unlocked and slide in inner more medial quad tips back in which have no obstruction so they are in way further and it looks much better. Is there any specific space needed for the tips or can they be as flush to the valsnce as you want?

So it’s been a few weeks. And, loving the new system. I think it sounds great no drone feels like there’s more power and reactivity and response love the burps on wot....
No regrets at this point. Only regret is getting my coilovers installed by AV Auto Worx in Delaware. Never put my spanner tool back in box. Said they would mail it never did called them again same story. Found out they broke my jack insert and didn’t fix it so I would def NOT recommend them for install. AWE was amazing and wish I would of just had them do it for me. Live and learn.
