Hi all,
Can anyone share any experiences with installing mesh on/over a heat exchanger? I am planning on putting this mesh (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-304-Mesh-14-020-Wire-Mesh-Cloth-Screen-24-x24/112963540396) in front of my PLM Hx. But, I am not sure what the best method might be for installing it.
Thanks!
I haven’t put any on yet but I did see someone’s at my tuners who just used mesh from a sliding door. Its black so doesn’t show and still lets air through.
Something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/VisiScreen-36-in-x-84-in-VS1-Series-Charcoal-Replacement-Safety-Screen-Door-Mesh-VS1B3X7/206977416
This will most likely be the route I go if I do it

I was thinking about using that kind of product, but I'm not confident it will be immune to rust.

There are tons of different solutions from different folks. The cleanest I've seen was mounting the screen flush to the back of the grille using the screws around the perimeter of the grille already. From what I recall, you can do it while the grille is still housed in the bumper. So just make sure you have a clean non-abrasive surface to lay your bumper face-down on, fit your mesh, cut to size, and secure it directly to your grille in place.

You can even paint it black with some truck bed liner like some folks do to their crash bars if you want it to be super resistant to road debris.
Good luck!
