Anyone using one of these. Seems to take advantage of the CD slot, which I never use and puts the phone in a position not to be in the way of the vents or controls. Curious if anyone is using one and if so could comment on it and post a pic of how it fits the dash.

i haven't used a cd mount yet but i've been thinking along the same lines. the only thing that i wouldn't like about that link you posted is the side bolster release button is on the back of the mount, i think it would be easier to release the phone if the button was on the side, right under the side bolsters. i had a vent mount with a side release under the bolster setup years ago and i would still use it but the release button started to rattle loud and consistently so i ripped it out.

I use this one which I love. Its has an incredibly strong magnet. It holds my Note 8 plus the case. The metal plate is actually mounted on the inside of the case and this still manages to hold the phone in place.

That looks nice any pics of it installed and phone in place? Looks like you just put a metal sticker on the inside of your phone case to hold it?

I use the iOttie CD slot magnetic mount. I put the magnetic plate on the very bottom of the phone, so it can be up and out of the way of the shifter. I still knock it off once in a while.

Check these out as well.

Used one in my B7. Allows you to use any type of AMPS type mounting system. In my case it was a ball mount that was compatible with any number of phone holders, clamp or magnetic.

I use the WizGear magnetic mount and I love it. Very minimal with a very strong magnet. It held my old Galaxy S8, Google Pixel 2 XL and my current iPhone X in place with absolutely no bouncing or sliding. It's perfect for those who want to keep it minimal as possible.

It is a hard mount and I found the pictured location to be best for eye site location as well as being flush for a perfect install. For those concerned about mounting something to their dash with 3M tape, don't be. I've used this type of mount in my last 3 cars and if you decide to remove it, some simple goo gone and Windex with a microfiber cloth takes care of it with no color distortion or scratches.

(Excuse the dust in the car, it needs a cleaning bad. Oh, and the dog hair on my phone's screen. I'm a mess this morning.)

This is a nice one. The cd one I bought never went in tight enough, even thought i tightened that little screw really tight. How does this one stay in place? I don’t see anything to screw it tight

If you check it out at this link it'll show how it works. Its a really snug fit, initially I didn't think it would even fit in the slot (that what she said anyways LOL)

I have been using this Infiniapps mount for a couple years now. The magnet is very strong and has never let my iPhone fall off. My only complaint is that the ball-and-socket joint becomes loose in cold weather allowing the phone to flop forward, and there is no mechanism for tightening it. In warm weather it tightens up and is not a problem. All in all I'm happy with it.

Well, mine works perfect after 1 year, did you tighten the collar in the back that locks down the orientation?

Kenu Airframe. Easily the best mount I’ve used. Highly recommend and can be found online anywhere.

Anybody using a magnetic mount also use wireless charging? I like my wireless chargers on my desk and nightstand, so don't want to lose or hurt that functionality.

I like the iOttie one touch mounts. Pushing the phone in automatically releases the spring loaded clamp to hold the phone in. To get the phone out, you just squeeze the sides of the mount and the phone comes out into your hand easily.

Haven't tried their CD or vent mounts, but am considering one. I'd go magnetic, but like I said I've heard mixed things about the plate interfering with wireless charging. Plus, I have a handful of cases that I swap between (watch too many deal sites that show $5 case sales on Amazon). Don't really want to stick something to the phone itself.

I am able to use induction charging by sliding the metal piece inside the case to the lower 1/4 of the phone. I'm able to do that because the magnetic is as strong as it is.

I've been using this from ProClip. Great quality and doesn't obstruct your dash/AC vents. This is only for the car mount, so you'll need to pair it with a phone mount. A universal phone mount works well if you switch phones often you can adjust the width of the phone mount.

https://www.proclipusa.com/product/854063-proclip-angled-mount

Here is the stock photo taken from their site. The only downside is that it's fairly low in your field of view, but some may prefer that.

I use the magnetic car mount and still utilize wireless charging with my iPhone X. Prior to permanently installing the metal plate on the back of my phone case, I tested taping the metal plate in different areas of the back of the phone and putting the phone on my wireless charging pad. What I found is that as long as you keep the metal plate toward the bottom of the phone, wireless charging works just fine. Even with the metal plate placed low on the back of the phone, the magnet in the Wizgear mount is plenty strong enough to hold the phone and not let it budget at all. See below...

I've had the phone for almost 2 months and have used wireless charging to charge it 100% of the time. I haven't even taken the lightening cable/wall charger out of the packaging.
