01-23-2006, 02:35 PM
Met the guy today... owns an "At home" body shop company.... So tempted... this is a good price.... he said I can defonitly do it for under 250 *whatever that means, 249?)

So my question to you guys is,

01-23-2006, 02:37 PM
nay, wait till you get sides.

01-23-2006, 02:37 PM
Yay! Unless of course your planning on getting some type of kit or lip eventually then I would wait it out.

i paid 400 to get my front and rear lowers painted and also have my sideskirts painted and installed. It was a similar do-it-at-home guy, but he worked at a really respectible body shop that didnt really have time to do my car. the guy had all the painting stuff at home and just did it for me. he did a really good job too.

01-23-2006, 02:50 PM
Ya, Im not going to get skirts or even a body kit/lips... Im sticking stock from now on.... only thingi am doing is putting on the new carbon fiber hood this spring when I throw the wheels back on.... so Ill paint the lowers, and be done (I know its easy to say that but fall through haha)
I only plan on having THIS car for under a year longer, so dont wanna do much more with it... ya know?

sorry, no close ups. the paint quality is as good as stock, so no worries about that. he even gave be the left over paint and i use that to touch up the front bumper every once in a while. sideskirts are projectzwo btw.

right on, audispeed, thanks for the input

ANYONE ELSE... YES OR NO!? Good or bad investment, i think it makes the car look 2083x better

Given that you think it looks that much better do it!

I'd do it if I could get a good deal on that, having painted lowers changes the look completely.

yay, and that may be worth the drive for me too... let me know how it goes

01-24-2006, 02:39 PM
K Ill let you know how it turns out

01-24-2006, 03:02 PM
Well, looks like you've already decided but I say do it. You can get away with having your lowers unpainted if you have a black A4, otherwise, paint 'em! [:)]

01-24-2006, 03:31 PM
Yeah, I'd do it too, considering you're not going to have the car for a long time and not going to upgrade the sides. Plus, $250 is a pretty good deal. I was quoted $425-$450 just for materials to paint my lowers on my santorin A4, granted I had access to a sprayer and could do everything myself. HA, F that. No way am I paying that much to paint my stock lowers.

01-24-2006, 04:44 PM
Yah I thought it was a fairly cheap price as well.... thats why Im considering jumping on it... and knowing, it will be the last thing I do to my car...

I've got S4 sides waiting to be put on . . but I am almost thinking of having them painted flat/textured black (kinda like oem+)

for some reason; I am not excited about painting the s4 sides (too much yellow?) (at least not without the S4 front . . but I am trying to go for some A4 pride; and not fronting like I have a S4)

Then I'm thinking about selling the sides; and just painting the lowers
-just not convinced it comes out that well over time
Anyone think about replacing the door moulding with some that is more paintable? (or does the oem moulding hold up fine?)
