OK, I have an 2.7T tip allroad...my only mods so far are GIAC software with flashloader and aftermarket DVs.

...I'm starting to get the itch to do something else...but I am still under warranty, so it can't be too crazy...

I was thinking about the tip chip and a performance intake next...

Should those be my next mods?

I haven't gone for the tip chip yet because everyone keeps saying that it only helps in tip mode, which I really don't use all that much...but I'm "hoping" someone changes my mind...Does anyone have any thoughts for me?

What about the intake? Are the benefits noticeable? Can anyone recommend one? I've been thinking about the AWE s-flo...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
BoomBoom

did you feel big difference after you put the Giac?
thanx.

Absolutely.

The difference is huge...it completely changed the way the car drives. Yes, there is more turbo lag, but there is more power/torque at all RPMs...in fact, I would say that in a way, the overall driveability of the car has improved. And yes, it is much, much faster now.

The only issue is probably with the tip tranny...sometimes it doesn't know what to do really (it's hard to explain unless you just drive a 2.7T with the GIAC software)...some call it "gear hunting" I believe...that MAY be helped with the GIAC tip chip...which I may get in the near future.

And the best part - I would say that my fuel economy has gone up at least 1 MPG with the GIAC...but I don't drive the car hard all that much...if you develop a lead foot, you will eat gas like it's going out of style.

Hope that helps.

thanx a lot , that helped. I'm on the way of getting Giac, so i'm gathering the opinions of Giac customers...plus i have stick so i'm the one who's gonna do the gear "hunting" ;)
PS. I see that you from San Jo, i'm from Sf, i wanted to ask you where did you get the chip? I heard that there is a shop in San jo, that doing the Giac's, do you know anything about that place?
thank you.

I own a 2004 A6 2.7 T and upgraded the software for a quick and affordable power increase. GMP Performance in Charlotte took care of the CHIP, H&R Springs, and spacers. They will do the rest of my mods. The recommend the APR Chip vs the GIAC because driveability is much better, power smoother, less brutal. Good for almost 320hp though! The tranny works well and I DO NOT experience any of the issues you mention about "gear hunting". Hope it helps!

Kievskiy,

It looks like I haven't updated my profile info yet...

I moved from the Bay area about 5 months ago...

But before I left San Jose, I did check out a couple of tuning shops in the area...

I know of two GIAC dealers in the San Jose area (at least they were when I was there)...

New Dimensions European Performance in Santa Clara....and...Dynospot Racing in San Jose.

They both seemed pretty legit...I probably would have gone with New Dimensions...but just because they were closer to where I lived...and no offense to Dynospot, but New Dimensions just seemed to be more for clients my age (i.e., guys over 25)...

I would check them both out if I were you...and go with the one you like better. But both seemed pretty cool.

Also - just in case you change your mind and want to go with Revo, there is a shop I really like that is a Revo dealer...M&M Auto House in Campbell (I think). I talked to them a bunch...but Revo didn't have a release yet for my car...but those guys were great.

One more thing - you have a '00 2.7T? Are you still under warranty? If not, I would highly, highly, highly recommend that you look into the Dahlback chip. It's a physical chip replacement, but I have heard nothing but absolutely glowing reviews of it...I think New Dimensions MIGHT be a Dahlback dealer too...now it is more expensive than the GIAC, but I hear it's worth it...

How's that for a comprehensive reply?
