My right turbo is leaking something, any ideas what it may be? And have anyone fixed this with f.eks a turbo overhaulkit? Noticed the leak when I changed the transmission.
There was also a lot of oil in the hose to the intercooler on the same side.
It looks like the turbo is unoriginal, but it works fine from what I can tell.
Car and engine is 2000 A6 Q 2.7t AJK-engine code. 230bhp

Looks like coolant due to the pink staining.
The oil could have gathered over a long period of time, clean it out and keep your eye on it.

Thanks for the feedback, the turbo have been wiped off, and the hoses to the intercoolers been drained, so I'm keeping an eye on it.
Thought it might be coolant. The engine uses a bit more coolant than oil, but very litle amount. So I have no clue how long it has been that way.
But I'm fearing that I have to change the turbos. The previous owner changed them at 210k-km, now it has gone 273k-km, so the oil in the hose to intercooler could be from that time.

So here on saturday I drove 500km, parked in a snowbank. On sunday when I started up for another 500km the car smoked insanly, blueish white smoke, like a fog machine. So after a short drive I stopped an started cheking posibility to get towed, or to ship the car the distance. Let the engine idle for a few minutes before turning the engine off.
A few minutes later I started up again an moved the car a bit and there were a small oil puddle on the right side of the engine. But the smoking had stopped I noticed, so I drove on, all the 500km, no issues, and no smoke what so ever. I topped up with 1.5 Litres of oil after I started driving again, and it didn't use any of it afterwards.
A feared that I had to change turbos, but after googling a bit I think it may be the crankhouse ventilation PCV that is clogged up and sending oil through the intake and making some local fog. Any thoughts?
(after 3000km since I wiped off the turbo there have been some pink build up on the left side of the right turbo, on that blindplug or what it is there, but not much)

That doesn't explain all the nasty crud building up on the outside of your turbo. It's possible the PCV or pancake valve froze open when you parked it which sucked a bunch of oil into the inlet tubing, but my guess is you still have a leaking compressor housing on your right side. That would explain the puddle on the side of the road. Typically, when the ventilation valves stick open the inlet tubing and IC's have a ton of oil in them until it all gets burned out, it wouldn't leak onto the ground unless you had a leak elsewhere.
Have you been able to see if your coolant level is changing?

The car have been working fine, cleaned the PCV hoses, and also changed the gasket on the left valve cover(since it dripped down on the left turbo when sitting for a while).
Pulled some codes, maybe they can be the cause for the smoke issue?

Yesterday when driving again, I drove 500km, parked, and the cooling fan startet and stopped continiously, but shut down after 15min, it started, ran for 15ish seconds, then slowed down, almost stopped, and started again. So today when I started up, the coolant from the expansion tank was gone, filled up, and it works as it should. I wonder what caused it to dissapear from the expansion tank, looks like the edge is cracked, but that doesn't explain why it was all empty. The fan still runs when I stop the car. But stops after a few minutes, it haven't done this previously. Temperature outside is still below 0 celsius. Maybe I've gotten som water in the ecu compartment? Going to check up that tonight, any other things I should check?
(starting a new thread on the coolant issue, the turbo issue is still in this one)

Other items to check, but labor intensive to get to them, is the turbo oil return lines. They often leak at the seals as they get older and that would explain the bluish-whitish smoke you occasionally see at start-up. I agree with others though that the gunk you have is a leaking coolant issue.
I have a 2003 Allroad and that smoke and smell in our garage at engine start-up drove my wife crazy for about 80,000 km until the oil consumptions was increasing to 1 liter per 9,000 km. At that point (about 258,000 km on engine) I finally got the dreaded turbo whine and loss of power and decided to switch out the old K03 and go with a full stage 3 K04 set-up. But I never did have that coolant leak/gunk issue you posted in your original picture.
Agree with others though and you should plug in computer and do some logs to help track things down. Notice any loss of power or other items that might help folks more accurately pinpoint your problem?

There ain't much smoke on startup, if any. It was this one time it smoked like a fogmachine, insane, and low power. but after a few minutes on idle, and a restart it was fine again.(could have been clogged pcv, not sure, but that is rinsed now)
I can't say I have noticed any loss of power, and I can't claim that the engine uses any amount of oil.
Over the years I've had it (2013, 225000km) it have been using more coolant than oil, (<1dl over 10k-km). Now I've found a crack in my expansion tank, that could have been leaking a bit all the time, maybe I'll find out after I've changed that.

Had a check again now, drained the hoses from the intercoolers, not much oil there, less than 0,5dl. And no more crud on the turbo, so I'm guessing it's ok. Now driven 4k-km since I noticed the problem.
