Hey guys. I'm considering buying an XLR8 196.5mm crank pulley which equates to an APR dual pulley setup, but I had a few questions.
1) Would it be possible for me to install the pulley and continue using my stage 1 APR tune? I know I wouldn't be using the full power potential but if I buy the pulley I would want to save up for a little bit before paying for the stage 2 upgrade.
2) With a pulley ratio of 3.107 and redline of 6400rpm would I be able to get away with the stock supercharger cooling? Does this change depending on if I'm running stage 1 or stage 2 software?
Thanks in advance!

isn't it only $300ish to upgrade to Stage 2?

Yeah haha. If its possible it would only be around a month before I end up buying the software.
Yeah, you'll just be bypassing boost.

1. You would be fine. It would just bleed off extra boost. But no point in running dual pulley long term without tune for it. again, it will just bleed the boost.
2. You need upgraded cooling but may be able to get away without for a few months since it is winter. The 3.0t heat soaks like crazy. I used to own an S4 and got into dual pulley. Just get a quad pass mercracing HE. I was so impressed with their HE on my S4 that I just ordered one for my S6 (on it's way to my house now actually).
3. Go into the S4 forum. They have better info than on here about the 3.0t.

Thank you for the info.
So pretty much even with the pulley upgrade if I'm still on stage one there will be zero performance gain due to bleeding off the extra boost?
If I go stage 2 dp I'm definitely going to upgrade the cooling come the summer. How much did everything come out to for the Mercracing HE? I was considering going the killer chiller route but if this is cheaper/just as good I'll consider doing that instead.
