VCDS lowering job on 2018 S6 gone bad. Faults don't go away. Need help.

Hey gang, while messing with the lowering of my car, trying to level it (seems impossible), switched suspension to 'dynamic', to see if wheel gap remained the same (not exactly, but not that much different), and forgot to put it back to 'auto', before starting all over again, to just add 17 to my factory numbers and call it a day. Forgot exactly where I got the first error, but bottom line is faults kept coming back, and even though adaptation accepted the new values, when doing 'calibrate level control', I got an error, so can't get past that. One of the faults is 'height values not learned'. Tried to to a 'test', but got an error saying couldn't be done while 'active'. There're a few more things I could try before surrendering and having to take it to dealer, but prefer to ask if somebody has any idea. Decided to try a new thread in case there's another idiot like me who f***ed it up. Damn, feel so stupid. Anyway, hope to be able to fix it. Even got ABS codes. Tried to post the full scan but forum erased my post and had to start all over again, so just posted this, and the full scan on the second post, edited with modules that had no errors until it finally fit. Anyway, before shutting ignition off, after doing a full scan, erased all codes, but heard car beeping like crazy, so most probably came back yet again. Will let battery get charged before attempting to fix that. Thanks in advance for your help gang. Oh, and decided to start a new thread in case there's another owner with questionable memory like me, to make it easier to find. He he. Hope it's okay. By the way, the 4 codes from module 34 were function shut-off active, ride height not learned, control module not coded, and no end-of-line programming. Got very bad news from my worsening cancer today, and went to work on the car to clear my mind a little, and now this. Geez. Hope you can help to at least finish that on a good note. Ha ha. Hope to at least learn if I could have messed something up (and what), which I don't think so (hence trying to fix it with coding), but you never know. Feel like kicking myself in the a$$. Why not just start the process over with the car's original values and then go from there?

I tried, but as I mentioned, couldn't get past 'calibrate level control'. Will try again later. Forgot to mention on my last attempt, with the stupid touchpad on my laptop, the option 'start up to refence level PRODUCTION', which we're not supposed to use, was brought up to the menu, but never clicked on 'go'. Guess it's possible it might have been activated with the stupid touchpad too, since I hear some noises, but am not sure. Assuming it was activated, what can be done about that? Thx. Will post after trying again. I think the main culprit might be one of these 2 faults: function shut-off active, and control module not coded. And maybe no end-of-line programming. Hopefully shutting ignition off and back on will help. We'll see. Many thanks. REALLY hope it can be fixed. Thanks.

I didn't want to try again without doing something before, since I tried 3 times already without luck. Well, posted over VCDS, and somebody said I need to code the module again or would keep getting the same faults, which makes perfect sense. Anyway, if I hadn't pulled a full scan when I bought the car (I didn't before starting this procedure), I'd be in deep trouble. But this guy pulled the 6-digit code from that old scan and I can code it now... but didn't tell me exactly how. He posted that I could 'copy and paste' it, but doesn't make any sense to me. Does anybody know exactly how? If yes, please enlighten me[:D]. There're several codes, from soft code, software code, workshop code, and very long ones that could have that 6-digit one somewhere inside, like the one on 'coding'. By the way, that guy said even if I didn't have that code, it'd still be possible to find a solution. But what for certain means a trip to a dealer is if you do: 'reset all adaptations'. Now we have more precise info on what we can screw up and what not. Ha ha. Hope once I know how to code that thing, to be able to post that I succeeded... thanks to VCDS. If that happens, I'd absolutely feel vindicated of having spent more for the VCDS cable than an OBD11, since they offer no support. And hope my stupidity helps somebody in the future. Will report when I have more news. And if somebody knows how to code that thing, please post. Thanks.

Did you save the old numbers? Try to do a basic setting first, clear all the faults, then do a relearn or adaptation. Make sure you put it back to automatic while it’s doing all of this. And I had same problem
Before. You didn’t change any coding right? Also while you do this make sure you gain security access. Let me know how this goes

Hopefully you shouldn't have to fully recode anything. If you can, select anything that has to do with deleting your level control calibration to allow you to start over. I had a similar experience with tons of errors. I was able to select a few options to delete the calibration and then restarted from the original values. It is more than likely that all of your errors are from setting it just a bit too low on the first go around.

I don't think it was too low, since the first time completed successfully, and I only went to 17mm, including the adjustments. Thing is I tried to level the car along with the drop, and car was way more uneven than before, so had to go back and try again just adding the 17mm drop to factory settings. Problem is I switched suspension to dynamic, to see if the height differences stayed exactly the same, which they didn't, meaning the system is not that accurate, so at that point gave up trying to level the car... AND I FORGOT TO SWITCH IT BACK TO AUTO. At any rate, my problem seems more serious than just trying to start all over. I'm waiting for confirmation that I need to reinput the module 34 code (008006) on 'software code' under coding. But another guy at the VCDS forum is worried that the other error, 'no end-of-line programming', might mean programming was wiped out. Geez. My only hope is the coding fixes that somehow. We'll see.

Hey OlyS6, do you remember getting those 2 concerning codes, or didn't check? I mean 'control module not coded' and 'no end-of-line programming'. The other 2, 'function shut-off active' and 'ride height not learned' should go away with the procedure done correctly. The first 2 prevent me from doing anything right now. While I hear back from VCDS, your input is welcome. Oh, and how about a suspension symbol error under 'raise' of the MMI? Did you get that? Thanks.

That is the procedure I followed, and worked. It all started by not having suspension in auto the second time around. One other thing I didn't mention because didn't think it happened is my stupid laptop's touchpad brought up the 'start up to reference level production' channel instead of the other that was below it, and although I never clicked 'go' either, the stupid touch pad might have activated it too, since I heard some noises, but I'm not entirely sure what happened, since the suspension was still making noises (like when you arrive home. Could have been a coincidence). I HATE touchpads, but since I have to take the computer to the garage, have no choice but to use it there. Oh well. At any rate, I need to code that module before being able to do anything, but the people at VCDS are not giving me all the answers to my questions, and I'm starting to feel uneasy about this. Another issue is the other troubling code, about no end-of-line programming. Will probably try re-coding the module tomorow, but if it doesn't work, I'm accepting defeat and getting a reflash at dealer. Wondering how much it'd be, since they'd also have to do the calibration, right? My freaking luck, but have nobody to blame but me. Oh well. Have a great weekend folks. Will post my results tomorrow. Sorry bud, but seems like you’ll have to recode through ODIS with the dealer or someone who has access to it if those codes didn’t go away after the procedure. The coding goes deeper than what VCDS can achieve. Shouldn’t be more than an hour labor. As you can see though, it happens to the best of us.

Some dealers are cool, ask them if they can drop it via ODIS at the same time..

Thanks brother; somebody told me it'd cost a grand, so glad to see it might not be that bad. It took me like 10 minutes to code my car, and I'd supply dealer with the factory numbers, so once hookep up, it should literally take 5 minutes to calibrate. Just input the heights on adaptation 4 times, calibrate, and activate; done. And the flash shouldn't take that long either. I should get a quote on Monday, but my main concern is if something like that could trigger a TD1 code on my car; it'd add insult to injury. Can it? I'd assume that is only in case of the engine and/or tranny module, no? And the worst news is Audi denies warranty on EVERYTHING with a TD1, which is really crap, since there're a million things not related to a engine/tranny tune. Hope this module doesn't trigger that, although I wouldn't be surprised if they flag my suspension, which probably is very likely. One guy over VCDS said he might have the solution, but I really doubt it. Everything went well except 'calibration', when it craps out. And even though I coded the module supposedly successfully, a full scan still shows the same 'control module not coded' error. WTF? Really bummed, but it is what it is. Don't have anybody to blame but me. As it wsa said, it happens to be best of us, but I couldn't freaking remember to switch suspension from dynamic to auto in about 10 minutes. Have the f***ing memory of a toad. Oh well. At least I can blame 2 chemos for that (and a 3rd coming starting next week). Oh well. Hope everybody have a great weekend. Will keep you posted. The last guy over VCDS that supposedly knew (he probably doesn't) decided to be a d*ck as an easy way out without saying he didn't know how to fix it, so it's safe to say I'll have to visit a dealer. And after my reply, that's for sure. He he. But don't care for his help anymore. Nobody there really know our newer cars, so at this point, rather admit defeat, and avoid a deeper issue. Will try to find an indy with 'ODIS' (this is what I need, correct?), but doubt there would be anybody. Hope I'm wrong. Yes, ODIS is Dealer level equipment that codes or flashes software through Audi’s database from what I gather.
I doubt audi would TD1 you for a simple reflash via dealer, ask your SA to make sure though. It would make more sense if you were flashed outside of the dealer and Audi finds out rather than it being on record that it was flashed with original Audi equipment.
