Crazy day.
Was trading in my 2017 RS7 for a 2017 RS7 Performance. Long story, but a worthwhile trade.
At dealership signing papers, calling insurance, etc... and the GSM comes over and says we have a problem.
Turns out Audi issued a recall on all 2014-2018 RS7s for, get this, the Tire Inflation & Maximum Load sticker on the driver side door jam because it states max load 520kg or 1146 lbs and its supposed to say 920 lbs. Seriously, that is the recall.
There is a stop sale on all new inventory until a fix is at dealers and customer notifications will begin in April.
I was so pissed having been in the final moments of my transaction and the dealers can't sell the cars because it is Federal violation.
Audi USA says there is no timeframe for the fix.
Pathetic

That does suck. I'd have been heartbroken--and for something so f'ing ridiculous. Give 'em a permanent marker and write over the doorjam sticker. Sheesh.
I'm intrigued, though, I'd considered going precisely the opposite direction (Performance --> non-P), why the switch?

I find it interesting that you would go from a Performance to a base.
Quite honestly, it has nothing to do with the engine upgrades and slight power increase.
For me, it is about the Brakes, the wheels, and suspension.
I am used to driving 911s and the air suspensions feels a bit floaty for my tastes.
The ceramics also solve the brake dust issues with the wave brakes.

You raise one good point: I've never actually driven a non-P for any sensible period of time/distance. Were the finances around the switch somewhat less ridiculous, I'd probably have taken things a step further and test-driven one. Tough to say whether I'd have liked it or not but my RS7 comrades seem to like it... and the obvious advantage when combined with the CETE module is appealing to me.
I've never had an issue with brake dust--at least never to the point where it bothered me. Obviously, my current car doesn't suffer from any (at least, none that I can tell) and my last M6 had ceramics, too, but every car prior had stock brakes.
The performance deltas have been cancelled out by the tunes so that's moot for me. I switched out the wheels immediately and twice over already since I consider every stock option to be a bit "meh" looking and shame on you Audi for the stock rubber--the car's performance potential mandates more rubber and traction than a 275 square.
PS: I'm not bound by such silly rules as recall notices so if you'd like to take my https://www.youtube.com/user/limeypride 1-of-only-50, highly-mod'd, Titanium Edition 2017 RS7 Performance off of my hands, I'm willing to listen [cool]
