Just got mine. But before anything else, my car basically is at the limit of a full oil pan, registering full, and if I use it on a few short trips, it goes into overfull until I drive enough to evaporate all condensation. So it can't safely get any fuller than it is now, which is the perfect situation to calibrate an unknown dipstick. Anyway, when checking oil level for the first time, level went right where the last 'half moon' starts, for those of you who want to keep it the way it came[cool]. But since I don't trust cheap plastic attached to the end of a dipstick, proceeded to remove it with a blade in a metal handle, those you push out that are double-sided. It make quick work of the plastic, and it fell off leaving the metal as if it didn't have anything. You'll see the 2 'half-moon' indentations in the metal where I'm almost sure were the original 'min' and 'full' marks, because my car registers exactly at the upper half moon, so didn't even have to make a new mark or anything. That point is the truly full mark folks. Finally, you won't be able to insert the dipstick with the sharp tip on the metal (probably why plastic was added), but after dremeling it into a smooth round shape without sharp edges, it goes in just as difficult as with the plastic (it's tight when the tube bends). Overall a very nice tight fit, and no more worries about the plastic some day giving up the ghost[:D]. Very happy now I have a perfectly working dipstick, like if it came from the factory. And it happens to be an Audi one, since it has the Audi rings and an Audi p/n. A very cheap purchase for the piece of mind it gives. Hope this helps gang.
