View Full Version : WARNING!!! Angeleyes Suck

01-16-2006, 01:18 PM
I just purchased and installed my one piece Angeleyes for my A4 that I bought off ebay. I got the $200 titanium AE's and they look great and are very bright and all but the first day they were on my car they took on moisture and it won't go away. 2nd time this happened to me as they were a replacement for my lltek 2 piecers that fogged up as well. They suck, and there is no warranty. Please don't buy them, just save up for the e-codes like I plan on doing!just sucks it was such a costly lesson! Keep in mind I do live in Seattle, you may be ok in a drier, warmer climate.

I've got bad news. This happens to just about every projector headlight in production.

I've seen Porsches, Touregs, BMWs and Mercs with the condensation problem. Even people with the OEM A4/S4 headlights have the condensation problem.

Some of the part manufacturers are now spraying an anti-fog chemical onto the inner surface of the lense to prevent the condensation from ever occuring.

The problem happens alot more in areas where the temperature shifts greatly during the day.

The B6 guys have been having alot of issues with the newer Bixenon headlights too:

all projectros fog. Its even in the manual i believe. Like condenstation usually goes away when your lamps head up and the moisture vents out. If it really bothers you, take them out, dry it with a blow dryer and reseal.

speaking about after market projectors...do you guys think same will happen to Dual Halo projectors (I'm in cali)

01-16-2006, 06:55 PM
My guess is no. I wouldn't be suprised if it did after a storm though. Mine sometimes does when it rains and its hot out. After some driving it does away.

You could always remove the lens, and reseal it with some rubber gasket stuff (RTV or similar). If you do it properly and let it dry for the amount of time suggested, it should be just as fogless as any OEM headlight (assuming you have all pieces of the headlight installed properly [back cover, etc]).

If there is no way for moisture to enter the headlight, there's no way for moisture to build up inside and create the 'fog effect.'

However, like said, even stock headlights can take on moisture, as there are holes here and there even on them. For example, the short rubber hoses you will find on the back of your housings (OEM or aftermarket, doesn't matter) are meant to relieve the headlight of moisture (and heat I suppose), but it's also the perfect place for moisture to enter the headlight assembly.

It's not too hard to fix. I had projectors off eBay on my Eclipse and of course they started to fog up.

Take a blowdryer to it.. keep it maybe 5" away from the lens and it'll eventually start to go away. Once all the fog goes away let it sit for a little while to let all the unseen condensation go away. Next get some clear silicon and go all around the lens.

I did that with two sets of headlights and never had a problem afterwards.

They fogged up because it's a sign... angeleyes are for Bmw's, not Audi's

09-26-2006, 03:08 PM
I bought the titanium angel eyes and they filled with water and fell apart within a month, so I sent them back and got replacements.... they sucked as well, now the seller wont respond to my emails or refund me. Bought ecodes, love them.
