Tough choice.. If I go full stage2+ I worry that I won't have any future mods to look forward to. Howd you guys do it? Budget can handle either decision.

I went one mod at a time, and started with all suspension as opposed to power upgrades. I don't have much more to do now unless I really get into more than the Ultra Charger. Unlikely I'll do more since its a DD and I don't track it. It sure is fun to drive around town though.

I've done my car in phases.
Phase 1 was tune, brakes, sways,ak, cr15, exhaust, intake and wheels/suspension.
Phase 1.5 was dual pulley and heat exchanger

Phase 2 is more visuals and will be done with it this week or so.

Still plenty left I want to do to the car. Mods are in sig.

I just ordered an intake and chipwerke for my first "phase", in the spring I will be doing wheels/brakes/suspension as phase 2. Then back to power mods from there.. Plan will probably change but thats my decision for now!

I always like to do phases so I can see and feel how everything works together and fine tune the latest addition. Plus doing it slowly gives you that great satisfaction of hitting a new milestone.

you do what your budget can handle.. if your budget can handle it.. then you do it all at once so you can enjoy the car how you envisioned it in your head

truth.

OP, to me, i did quite a bit a once so i didn't have that constant, nagging anticipation of the next mod.
i can "relax" now and focus on minor mods and switching up my wheels if/when i get bored

Recently picked up a used S4 from a dealership that had already been modded up to stage 2+. The problem is that this was the first s4 I'd driven. I had been shopping for a 335 when I drove this car. I knew this car had some serious power but for all I knew they were all this way. I got a great deal as it was priced like a standard car, but I'd appreciate it more if I were able to witness the evolution. I say go one step at a time to appreciate it.

I'm a one mod at a time guy, I really enjoy feeling how the car transforms after each change, it's all part of the education.

There are more mods to do than you think! I went from intake, exhaust, tune to suspension and wheels, back to power and cooling upgrades and now doing more cosmetic upgrades and tweaking things. Fuel pump etc. Still want brakes and upgrade my sound system.. There is something about knowing what each mod did so you really know your car.. Fun times!

+1. I don’t like “waiting” to get something done if I have cash in hand ready to upgrade. Within close to a month I completed all the power upgrades possible for the S4 platform: APR stg 2+, cooling, dp, HFC and ported supercharger along with KW springs and 034 insert package. The only other power adder would be meth which I don’t intend on doing. Now comes a few cosmetic items like carbon fiber diffuser, larger exhaust tips, rims and lastly brake upgrade. I wasn’t looking to see what each item does it doesn’t make a difference I’m looking for the whole package to be completed and done

I would say there's certain things that make sense to do together.

Anything suspension related you might as well do at the same time, while everything is already apart. Less labor(manual or paid).

Depending on what tuning level you want to go to, you need to add the supporting mods as well. So pulleys, intake, cooling and tune.

Exhaust...do whenever you want. They are so expensive for the good ones. Personally I just got an x-pipe and waiting for a good deal on a local used Milltek or AWE exhaust.

Cosmetics would say the same thing, although if you are removing the bumper for pulleys, might as well do the grille replacement and/or lips while its off.

I second that. If you do pulleys, do the cooling system at the same time (or vice versa) since the whole front has to come off.
Same applies to sway bars and coilovers (shocks/struts) - do them all at once since you'll save on labor and wheel alignment afterwards. Brakes can be added here, too.
