Random fan issue? , two coolant temps sensors??

So on the way home on the freeway randomly out of nowhere my fans kick on and stay on. coolant temp via my torque app is 90° f but then actual coolant temp gauge starts rises to normal operating temp but torque reads the same temp the rest of the ride home as ambient temps were 20°f outside wtf!?? Do we have two different coolant temp sensors? (Thought there was just one underneath the front of the charger) thoughts?? Any help?
