Another dumb battery post, but I checked and didn't see a consensus. Web searching showed various OEM sizes too.

I hit the store and picked a 770 CCA battery H6 AGM aftermarket that was in the middle of the sizes they showed suitable for the S4. Seemed pretty big and from my memory, similar in size to the OEM, but it's about ten pounds lighter and shorter. Is still bigger then any battery I've swapped in similar cars. The OEM doesn't show CCA specifically, but it has 850A and 520A listed on the top. Usually the bigger number is the snow and the smaller is CCA, but I'm thinking that's not the case.

Thoughts?

Here is a helpful thread on batteries for the B8 S4.

The most important ratings are the Ah rating and the EN/SAE CCA rating. Make sure they're equal or slightly higher than the original ratings. Also, make sure the size fits perfectly in your car's battery tray which seems like you said the H6 size works?

My car had an AGM H9 which is massive and ridiculously expensive.. I replaced it today with a slightly smaller AGM H8 today just due to what I could get locally. H6 does seem a bit small. It probably won’t be an issue if you live where it doesn’t get super cold or run something like a huge aftermarket stereo but you want to get as close as possible to what is in the car now. Some smart engineer did the math... Cars sold in different markets will have different batteries fitted.
