Just wanted to give some input and feedback about the craze of porting chargers, got mine done from S4Matty a few months ago. Wanted to let people know the difference in real life as I have not seen anyone post about a real difference other than 1 or 2 quarter mile runes.
My friend and I with identical mods (custom tune on race gas, full exhaust including test pipes, ported headers, intake) did our ports one week from each other to test the difference. Prior to both port jobs, our cars were identical on roll runs. From 60km-220km the difference was about 3 car lengths.
The difference was noticed immediately but took about a day for the car's ECU to fully adapt, the throttle response is much more immediate and the power band has gotten stronger from low RPMs all the way to redline.
Once my friend did the ported job, our cars were side by side a day after his car adapted as well.
It's a very underrated modification, I highly recommend it to this looking to get extra power. It lowers IATs as well which is a huge bonus. As more and more get ported, the popularity will definitely go up.
S4Matty has been porting chargers for a few years now and ported as much as he could while still maintaining reliability. Highly recommended!
Note: This is not an advertisement for S4Matty, just wanted to give some real feedback on those on the fence about porting their chargers, it's 100% worth it!
