View Full Version : What exhaust setups are cars running that trap 120+ ?

I am curious what exhaust setups people are running that continually run 120 mph+ in the 1/4 mile. I am thinking my next mod should be exhaust since I just installed the Jokerz ported SC and I only have the touring cat-back exhaust. I am wondering if headers are recommended, X-pipe, or maybe just downpipes.

Loe will come along shortly with the best, most reliable info. I think many are running basically stock exhausts, maybe just x-pipes added, even at that power level with Stage 2+ mods and E85 or race gas type maps. Could be wrong.

None of these exhaust add any power so I'm not sure it should matter. Could be wrong though.

I’d assume just a higher flowing cat with things like ultrachargers

I seem to recall that Loe ran 11.2 in the quarter with Stage 2+ extensive mods but with a completely stock exhaust. Maybe mistaken.

Trapping 122mph I just had a Stassis touring exhaust and stock cats.

OP don't model your car off cars that run 120 because its not going to guarantee your car will run 120's

Exhaust doesn't matter besides the cats which will start holding you back once you're that fast.

I've been 120+ for a little over 2 years now on pretty much the same set-up.

Originally:

100% stock exhaust

then stock exhaust + X-pipe

Now: stock headers, test-pipes, stock downpipes, SQ5 H-pipe w/ resonated X-pipe, stock rear section

Exhaust may do things to our car, maybe 10awhp on larger diameter downpipes? Not 100% sure, but for now we know the stock exhaust can handle the flow. Even the stock cats can handle the flow, just not reliably so...

Here is the video, it's quiet at idle and part throttle, but makes a nice noise at heavier throttle.

Loe - who's test pipes are you running? How difficult were they to install?

These replace the catalytic converter sections coming off the factory exhaust manifolds, correct? I really do not want to mess with the exhaust manifolds.
