I was doing my weekly inspection and I noticed a crack on the cat. Is this something to be concerned about or is this common?

I think the white stuff around the crack is from when I Seafoamed the car back in November. (Photo's kind of blurry)

Same thing happened to mine. It developed into a large crack in a week.

Did you replace it or is it still on your car? I don't know how long it's been there, although I did the Seafoam back in Nov. so it's probably been there since then.

Well, there's good news and bad news.

Good news

You really won't loose any power because your exhaust leak is post-turbo.

Bad news

The crack will grow and wicked hot exhaust gasses will eek out of it. You really don't want 1100 - 1200F gasses lurking near your hoses and plastic components.

I would either get it welded shut or buy a high-flow cat for a little less restriction.

I figured as much. High-flow cat seems to be the way I'll go. Thanks Daft.

Mine was replaced under the emmisions warantee. You're past 80k so it wouldn't apply to you.
